Okay… After a few minutes of frightened study of this image… I’m pretty sure she’s sort of sitting. Doubtless, she is still ridiculously short and he is ridiculously tall. But she’s leaning on the arm of the couch. Not sitting on it, just leaning on it. So she’s probably a couple inches taller than this picture suggests. But not by much…
And the photographer failed at this one. The colors are stunning but the pose is all wrong. Just absolutely terrible.
Looked at the tall man’s site…love that picture of him with his son…so cute! I’m going to say his wife was half sitting, but still they’re one of those short/tall couples. Personally as a 5′3 ft woman I couldn’t ever have married a tall man. Just looking up at my brothers (shortest one 5′11 -tallest 6′3) gives me a neck ache. I can’t imagine having to climb onto a step ladder to get a proper kiss without having my head snap off. But strangely all of my tall brothers prefer short women…go figure. My husband is 5′9…I think he could have been a little shorter…no one’s perfect!
We have several couples in our families with major height differences, going back to my husband’s great-great grandparents – he was 7ft something, she was 4ft 5in…. yah, awkward but they were apparently the sweetest couple. There is a full foot difference in height between my husband and I, too.
If he is always posed sitting down or with her standing on a box or something, you miss the height difference, which would obviously be a big part of their relationship. For official photos, maybe it’s all supposed to be about ‘composition’ and ‘balance’ – but this IS their reality. Why not capture THAT?
I think it’s a nice photo… maybe awkward, but still nice…
I saw this website on one of our morning TV shows… and I’m disappointed. It’s pretty lame. Posed photos tend to be more awkward than other photos anyway. Half these photos are just normal posed photos and not terribly awkward at all. If you’re going to call your website “awkward”, then start posting awkward photos.
yeah, he’s really tall, and yeah, so she’s not so tall herself, but she’s definitely leaning on the sofa. and there’s nothing wrong with major height differences; my boyfriend is 6′1″ and I’m 5′0″.

wow someones a size queen
Is she standing?
You would think the photographer would have him sitting, her standing to make things more even…now he looks like the Jolly Green Giant!
She had to send him a telegram to let him know that it was in.
Those couples of huge guy / small woman give me the creeps. Gross.
my best friends are getting married this year, she’s 5′6(ish) and he’s 6′9…they’re really not overly awkward…just amusing. lol.
Your comment is so gross.
I know couples that are way different in height, and they just look really cute. xD
Yeah. I wonder who put her up to it.
I think she is sitting.
Clearly.
Yeah, looks like she is sitting on the arm of the sofa behind her. If not, her body proportions are really odd…
It must be great going through life with people constantly trying to imagine you having sex.
I’m pretty sure she’s sitting…
she’s CLEARLY sitting on the couch behind her. lame.
That photographer was just messin with you guys.
He’s nuts over her.
I see what you did there.
obviously this is a skilled portrait – it’s been edited beautifully. as others have noted… WHY would you pose a couple like that?!
Photographer fail.
Hahaha.
My fiance is 6′4 and a beanpole, and I’m 5′1 and apple-shaped.

She’s not pictured, but you can see another one from the same day on his election site, VoteJesseKelly.com

i bet they look like the number 10 when they stand next to each other
If tall people only mated with tall people, and short with short, wouldn’t that exacerbate the problem of height differences down the generations?!
Loks familiar, I’m 5′0″ and my high school boyfriend was 6′5″. We were nominated for both “Class Mutt & Jeff” and “Class Couple”.
Yes, coach, she’s smaller than my hand, but she’s so much better!
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! Tears!

I like the size difference, They look like a sweet couple.
Beautiful light and bokeh. Strange posing…
…it’s a matter of perspective. She is actually seated on the floor.
How tall is that guy?? How short is that woman?
She’s a gymnast and he’s a giant. It’s called eugenics. Their baby son will be superhuman.
She’s sitting down, smart one.
This is actually a great picture. Great lighting and good background .
it’s a good pic, pretty family…but couldn’t they have had dad sit down….it’s almost looks lolita-ish
poor, poor little woman
By making him look taller, even if he was tall already, by making his wife looks short gives the voters the image of a big, strong, family man.
Nothing is by chance, everything by design when it comes to advertising, especially politics.
yeah, she has to be sitting. :p
When you’re nose to nose, your toes are in it.
When you’re toes to toes, your nose is in it.
The most normal picture in here…
i dont get this.
whats awkward about height difference between the sexes?

I believe she is leaning on the sofa. She is more than likely tall herself. This is a good sign that she is herselft tall.
Somebody hasn’t been around much. There are plenty of couples like this. Open your hearts and your dirty minds!
She’s sitting down? Duh.

It’s a joke people! Way to miss the point.
She’s a gymnast – that’s why she’s so tiny!
I don’t get it. What is so awkward about this photo??

I own that dress… wore it to college graduation. Awkward.
or maybe they’re a fun-loving couple and WANTED the height difference to stand out to be funny in the christmas cards they sent out.
you can tell she’s sitting…clearly he’s still much taller than her, but its not that awkward..
okay ..so I’m 5 foot 1 …and my soon-to-be hubby is 6 foot 9 . this is pretty much my life *laughs* At least SHE is sitting.
And just lemme be the one to say that the height difference in the bedroom is NOT as awkward as one might think .
This guy is running for congress in AZ.
