Kate – YES! Those *are* Playboy Club ears or very good copies. . . And Mom looks about the right age to have worked there . . . And frankly, attractive enough to have been a Hostess . . . Not so much awkward as offbeat and full of Win.

My dad worked as a chief for a playboy club in the 70′s. The waitresses wore black bunny suits with white tails and black ears.

The pink bunny ears was all daddy’s idea. You can see it in the twinkle in his eyes. Mom’s black ears signify the death of denial. Thankfully, the kids are still clueless.

Actually, this photo makes perfect sense when you know the rest of the family. The mom in this photo is Ralphie’s aunt form The Christmas Story. (This mom and Ralphie’s mom are sisters.)

Why are the males wearing pink. I like the smug look on mom’s face. Something she knows that the rest of them don’t. That kid in the back, a face only a mother with a stuffed raindeer could love. Clearly dad works at Sears and skanked the shirts….beeper??

This was clearly Dad’s idea, as he seems to be enjoying this a little too much. Some sort of inside joke with the sons. Only Mom realizes that although Dad’s intentions are comical, this will come back to haunt them…
Any thoughts on the color choice for the ears? Why black for mom and pink for the boyz2men?
