His sisters are just jealous.
It looks like these beautiful children were in someone’s wedding and the photographer thought it would be cute to pose them this way. It would be adorable if they were all just about five years younger, and gorgeous if they were all just about five years older. But they are at that AWKWARD age which makes this picture perfectly AWKWARD!

I actually think the photographer has done a great job of capturing a mood. Particularly if you take the brother out of the picture and look at the two girls, I think it is a wonderful photograph and not awkward at all.
