Everyone’s entitled to a starter marriage. Besides, Auntie could have been legally separated (but not divorced yet) from her husband when she met Charles.

Good on Auntie though for calling out Mom in front of everyone. Sounds like Mom needs to mind her own damn business…

I think mummy sounds rather horrid for ranting like that at the dinner table.
opionionated rantings are not good manners at such occasions.
awkward, long, drawn out, painful, POUNDING silences are far preferable
