I am beginning to believe that this amazing photograph contains all manner of crypto-prophetic iconography! As the true nature of The Sarah’s mission & destiny become clearer & clearer to the world in days and years to come, each tiny detail of this meticulously composed picture will prove to possess vast historical and mystical significance! Nothing in it is there by chance or accident! All contains vast significance and even sinister implications! Be afraid! Be very afraid!

  2. Wha?? says:

Sarah Palin ROCKS and you liberals can’t stand it :) ROFL…you’re all so hilarious!!! WHoohooo Sarah is gorgeous and you can’t stand it :) Sarah is true America and you can’t stand it :) AAahahahaha!!! I am SO behind her if she runs for POTUS, thank our Heavenly Father for some true HOPE!

    • Maureen says:

Um, honey… Sarah lost the election. The liberals are in charge now. We can stand that.

    • NoEntiende says:

Be very careful what you pray for. God works in very mysterious ways.

    • Wastedbeerz says:

Didn’t want to get political in this thread like everyone else, however I saw the previous comment and just had to…

I just don’t like when someone lets their personal beliefs get in the way of what is practical and the best thing for everyone else, which it most definitely seemed that Sarah Palin was doing. Religion/personal beliefs and government should remain separate. It should be about what’s best for everyone and not what your beliefs tell you is best for everyone.

And the picture is most definitely awkward in so many ways, I love it!!! Obama’s too!!!

  3. GUIDO says:

DANG she’s hot…would have LOVED to see her for 4 years….

  4. What in the World? says:

Love Sarah Palin! Awesome pic – not sure why it’s put under the guise of ‘awkward’ — she looks great and I’m certain some of these nasty posters are just bitter because they don’t look as hot as she does — how awkward for them…. LoL!

    Love the pic! :)

  5. Jes says:

Why is it I get the feeling that 95% of those who have taken time to comment about the “offensiveness” of the American flag prop are the kind of people who really couldn’t give a crap about the flag on any other day? Really, the majority of Americans do not have this much to say about our flag. Most of them do not know the proper way to care for, store, and dispose of it. And yet, all these commenters have something to say about our precious flag….I have a feeling a lot of them wouldn’t have even noticed if it wasn’t a polarizing GOP figure like Sarah Palin.
And I’m not even a Republican.

  6. Ellalee says:

    Sarah Palin is awesome!

The only thing awkward about this photo is that she looks wonderful after having five kids and becoming a granny while much of America is sliding towards obesity hades. It’s awkward for Americans to embrace a female leader who makes them feel insecure.

  7. BigDog says:

Have to say BOOOOOOOOO to site admins who posted this and the Obama pic. Thought this was a site for actual “awkward” family photos not Photoshopped political photos. Don’t we have enough of those sites already? Now instead of funny and witty banter in the comments section we have political commentary and people being highly offended at comments about Sarrah’s legs.. Again I say BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. a says:

    Is she wearing pantyhose?

  9. WHY says:

Oh golly gee I’m so folksy and just like you with my gym shoes, American flag, random community college education I pieced together and my abstinence preaching which I sure had a lot of luck with at home!

And no, I don’t like the current guy in the office, either.

  10. hotiniraq says:

who cares if she is wearing pantyhose?? sounds like people with ugly legs lets this bother them. i’m not too sure about the electronic devices in her hand because i havent seen the ad nor do i care to. as for the american flag on the stool; maybe they are letting the wrinkles fail out before the display it on a flag pole. i’ve done that myself, and by no means was it disrespectful. afterall, there has been greater disrespect to an american flag by so called “americans” here in our great nation, such as burning on the ground during a protest. glad to see the deployment banner is in its correct form, not upside down or long way across. cant even count how many times i’ve seen that on peoples cars and homes!! i’m surprised no one complain about the impressions on the carpet or the windows appearing dirty, since people have all this time to nit pick at a picture…. u could be doing something useful, like donating care packages to soldiers in iraq/afghanistan, or volunteering at a boys/girls club, just to name a few. well, its back to another scorching day of dismounted patrols here in iraq, thank you for your time to read this, and if i offended anyone…. let me know, and i will give you my address here in iraq, and you can come visit me.

    • mebinger says:

awesome. Thank you for the comment and everything you do out there. Your post hit all the things running through my head as I scrolled down the page and made me smile at the end. Thanks.

    • Benni says:

Talking about nit-picking, yours is the longest reply to this thread.

    • JerseyPam says:

Thank you for your service to our country. Thank Obama you will be coming home to your family soon.

  11. austingrl says:

Wow, I always wear pantyhose with my shorts. Especially if I am going running! They’re so comfy and they would never chafe while you run. Maybe they were having a sale on them over in Russia.

  12. dc says:

this is a REAL photo from a shoot for a Runner’s World magazine article.
that flag is not a blanket it’s just a flag.

  13. Jim says:

    That woman is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Tina says:

I honestly don’t think it is pantyhose, just fake bake…..JMO…

    BTW, weird pic….

  15. Matt Wilson says:

She keeps an American flag handy in case she needs to wrap herself in it at a moment’s notice.

  16. 2ndAmendChick says:

I think the photo is awesome, I think she looks awesome panyhose or not I don’t remember Grandma’s looking that good when I was a kid and as military I do not see any disrespect to the flag at all. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE THE ADMIN DID THIS AS A 4th OF JULY JOKE!!

  17. Mrs. Badcrumble says:

Uhm is she wearing Pantyhose to pose? I know it is Alaska and all but I don’t think you are needing pantyhose this time of year.

  18. Paula says:

If it weren’t for the poor flag placement (disrespectful) and pantyhose-with-shorts (tacky), this would be a great photo.

  19. BroadwayBohemia says:

My dad wouldn’t have taken her attitude from a 3 year old, much less a forty something.

    • Ellalee says:

Some Daddies have too much pride and think they equality is for somebody other than themselves.

Do you still do everything your Daddy wants you to do?
Your Momma must be a real Stepford Wife.

  20. Trouble says:

Despite her best efforts, Sarah was unable to pull her high school cheerleading skirt over her middle-aged thighs and had to settle for geriatric support hose under poly blend stretchy shorts.

  21. Jo says:

Looks like a horrid photoshop job to me.

  22. e says:

I don’t care if Sarah Palin is a runner. It makes it seem like she took the American flag and used it as a towel to wipe up her stinky sweat. She thinks she is the best thing to ever happen to the planet, when in fact she had no idea what do when she was campaigning, she continues to make stupid decisions, and if she runs for president we can only hope America will laugh in her face.

    • Ellalee says:

Hmm, it was a real terrible decision for her to leave the office of Alaskan governor while she pursued other things in life instead of hanging around in office, lazily representing the taxpayers like, say, schmucky NC Senator John Edwards did to North Carolinians. . . or how about the Big O himself wasting taxpayer $$$ himself as he was supposed to be serving as Senator but decided to no show for votes while he marketed himself for President?

e, you are a keen student of biased media if you believe everything you read of Sarah Palin. Alaskans loved her, and I wonder why? Maybe it’s because they believed she acted in their best interest. The media has had a subverting effect on many minds. Perhaps yours too.

      • NoEntiende says:

Right. All elected officials have a duty to step down and save us money so that they can answer higher callings and book deals. So what if they swore an oath of office to faithfully represent their constituents and promote the well-being of their people to the best of their abilities? It’s not like vows you make when you’re married (and you can always get divorced from that, you know). It’s just a job. Let someone else step in and pick up after them when the going gets too tough and all those pesky reporters keep asking questions about your public dealings (like you have to have an educated opinion about practically everything). It can’t be that inconvenient.

      • AK_Mama says:

No, we didn’t love her. She was popular a year ago, until we saw her true colors. While she will always have her supporters here, there are many more who are relieved to see her ethically-challenged self go. She has never completed a term she’s been asked to serve. Not when she was Wasilla mayor, not when she sat on the petroleum ethics board, not when she was on the Wasilla city council. If she didn’t want to be a “lame-duck” governor, then she should have stuck around and done the job. She hasn’t been working for the State of Alaska since last August.

  23. Joe says:

It’s a fake, look at the light reflected in her eye and compare it to the shadow of the lamp on the wall. Her face is lit from her left and the lamp from the right.

    Fake

    • C says:

Really? Did you notice that there are shadows going -everywhere- in this picture? Several studio lamps were used in this photoshoot, point at her in different directions to get the best lighting on her, obviously not caring though about the background.
If you look at the lamp, it has at least two shadows on it.

  24. L-fizzle says:

This is actually a photo taken for an article that featured Sarah Palin in this month’s Runner’s World. Nice try :)

  25. Daisy says:

    Lawls at all of you.

  26. Jane says:

Right Emma, what does this have to do with awkard. I think people resent the the fact that she’s attractive, intelligent, ethical and successful. You go girl!

  27. Chazlette says:

Now if someone knew how to wield a “compound bow” it would be her and yet not one comment about one. You peeps are slippin’, just sayin’.

  28. tom says:

It isn’t Palin’s photo that people are upset about, it is the American flag, just seeing that alone is enough to anger most of commenters on this photo. Good thing the word “God” isnt in the photo, hate to see a riot!

    • Gitterdun says:

See you’ve been well schooled by Fox at twisting facts to fit your own ideology. Yes. People that complain about this picture are simply angry at the sight of an American flag. Their hatred for the U.S. is in their blood. :)

  29. nosports says:

What makes you all think this is russia in the background?
There is an american power plug. (Yes, power plugs looks different in other countries)

  30. Emma says:

What does this have to do with awkward family photos?
    It’s a photo from a magazine.
Stick to the genre you started with. That’s what keeps us coming back.

  31. Schmendrick. says:

Doesn’t take much to get the sniveling lefties a whinin’.

  32. M C says:

She’s obviously not reading about American flag etiquette on those two Blackberries she’s holding

  33. NoEntiende says:

The flag should NOT be draped over a barstool like a colorful swatch of background fabric intended to accentuate Sarah’s running “ensemble”.

Geez, I truly hate this woman’s inflated sense of self-importance, coupled with a hyper-sensitive addiction to martyrdom.

(Her lawyers can contact my lawyers if she feels that this comment is yet another of those pesky personal attacks “defaming” her character. Bring it, Barbie.)

    • KR says:

I love how everyone is using this picture to bash Sarah Palin for the poor flag placement.
Um, she’s at a photo shoot. Chances are pretty high she didn’t place the flag like that…

I don’t see the correlation between the supposed disrespectful placing of the flag and her “self-importance.”
So what you’re saying is that because the flag is casually draped over a bar stool, this is her way of showing how important she is?
And, there are worse things happening to your flag through out the world than it being draped on a chair.

      • NoEntiende says:

What I’m saying is that I think it’s deplorable that ANYONE use the American flag the way she does in this pic. It wasn’t a photo shoot set-up in a professional studio; instead, it was taken in her home on Lake Lucille outside Wasilla (check Runner’s World for confirmation). What are the odds she just happened to have a spare flag literally laying around the house like that, that just happened to be casually draped over a barstool next to the window where she strikes her pose?

It’s nothing more than a colorful prop in this photo, used to stir up a patriotic flair and enhance the color scheme. It’s forced and cheap. It’s a shabby way to get the point across, I think, that Ms. Palin’s a healthy, busy, attractive politician. But apparently, it appeals to some. Good for all of them.

As one who flies the American flag every day in front of my house — and promptly retires each one when they begin to fade and wear out — I’m sensitive to irreverence like this.

And sure, there are far worse things happening to OUR flag around the world. It just seems more egregious when it receives less-than-restpectful treatment by self-proclaimed super-patriots like Sarah Palin. She, of all people, should know better. Right?

      • AK_Mama says:

You’re right, there are worse things happening to the U.S. flag than it being draped on a chair. But for someone who claims to be a patriot, she’s mistreating the flag and should know better. The fact that this is a photo shoot is no excuse. If she were really such a “maverick,” she wouldn’t be a part of something she didn’t agree with. Someone else may have placed the flag there, but she could have protested and insisted that the flag be placed in a more appropriate place.

      • Robert says:

I’m not sure Noentiende was correlating the flag placement with Palin’s inflated sense of self-importance. Her actions throughout the presidential campaign and in the past week prove that.

And while I am NOT holding it against her, in truth, she could have said something like “Hey guys, I’m not sure I like what we’ve done with the flag. Could we change that?” I probably would have.

  34. smee says:

And to think she was almost one geriatric heartbeat away from leading the free world…>shudder<.

  35. carole says:

Perhaps she should go away and use some skins from all the wolves she slaughtered needlessly. Either way I would be just as happy if I never saw her stupid face again.

  36. Amy says:

“US Army mobile”? What mobile? All I see are a flag and a deployment banner. A mobile is something you suspend so that it hangs in the air. The deployment banner hangs in a window in honor of a deployed loved one.

Not crazy about how the flag is just casually tossed over the chair.

  37. Torn says:

I’m torn. While she looks hot, (I’d do her in a heartbeat) this pic makes no sense.

    1) Why treat the flag like some cheap blanket prop? Show some respect. I thought she was a patriot.
    2) Same for the flag on the window. Obviously it was placed where it was to fit it in the pic.
    3) What’s in her hand? Are those Blackberrys? Why hold them like that? You can’t use 2 at a time, let alone fanned out like playing cards.

What’s this pic really supposed to show? She’s a patriotic momma that likes to run and plays with technology? Whomever her handlers are these days need to be fired. They’re idiots on the loose. You’d think Alaska could do better, but things like this show otherwise.

    • Emy Kate says:

Handlers? Sarah baracuda don’t need handlers, she’s a maverick, a star!
Have to say she’s still got the beauty queen pose down pat. By the way, I always wear hose with my shorts but that’s just me…

  38. bleh says:

    take a joke people.

  39. james says:

her legs are more tanned than her face. hows does that happen naturally? off course i know its a fake tan, but it looks stupid.

  40. ObamaMama says:

It IS pantyhose….ewwwww….Does she think she is a Hooters girl or something?

  41. ,,,_ says:

The “army mobile” description is hilarious. I enjoy mocking families that have loved ones serving in combat zones on the Fourth of July. Maybe if we mocked more of them, no one would volunteer to serve.

    • geo22 says:

Nobody’s mocking the military or their families. It’s the absurdly uncandid “candidness” of the shot that’s being mocked. If anything, it highlights the insensitivity and disrespect on the part of the photographers who chose to reduce the banner and the flag to convenient set dressing.

    • Lacie says:

Wtf is wrong with you!?!?! I have never made a remark on here about anything other then a pic but your comment was just totally uncalled for. “I enjoy mocking families that have loved ones serving in combat in the 4th of July” Im not quite sure what is so f**king hilarious about that but maybe you should go fight for your own damn freedom, quit being a pu**y and do it yourself and not leave it up to anyone else because obviously you dont care what those in the armed services are doing for you. I think you deserve to go live in an area that has a government that isn’t free and maybe, just maybe then your perspective will change.

  42. La says:

Like her or not, i dont care… but at least quote her right, SHE NEVER SAID SHE COULD SEE RUSSIA.. that was the Saturday night live girl, she said RUSSIA IS ALASKA’S NEIGHBOR.

And face it, no president (or vice president) is or ever will be perfect, and always on point.

    • Gitterdun says:

Actually, she said that from some parts of Alaska, you could see Russia, and she mentioned that as one of the reasons she considered herself to be prepared regarding international affairs.

    • BroadwayBohemia says:

Her name is Tina Fey. Just so you know.

And yeah, she said that from Alaska, in some parts, you could see Russia.

Yeah, because I can totally see Cuba from here in good ol’ FL!

      • Jes says:

You CAN see Russia from parts of Alaska. And vice versa. It wasn’t the greatest response to an interview question, but at least she didn’t say there were more than fifty states, like someone I know…..

      • La says:

What she said in quotes “They’re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska”

        so is it true?

        from world news…

Yes. Russia and Alaska are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small, sparsely populated islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other.

Ohh and Tina Fey is a joke, and not funny at all… I really wish celebrities would stay out of politics, for the most part they dont know what they are talking about, and some Americans decide to listen to them with out criticism.

        Be informed before you judge!

      • Sam says:

And you can see Russia from Alaska (from one of the islands) so your point is? Isn’t it odd how only conservatives are constantly claimed to be stupid. Yet Obama said there were 57 states and ya’ll aren’t parroting that endlessly. Can a comedy site be just that? Does the political bidding just never end? I’m a little sick of it myself. We should be able to unwind with a sitcom in this country without the constant “republican stupid” “humor”. Enough already. Go to Huffpo or Slate for that bs.

  43. russ says:

i dont care what anyone says, shes hot

    • Need More Coffee says:

I happen to think she’s fairly attractive too.

      • JP says:

Only visually… Really. Many of her opinions are pretty appalling. But then, she’s not alone. As an outsider from Europe (where we hear a lot more about you than you do about us, so we know you exist and are real people… no.. wait.. are you…?) I find it terrifying that someone like Sarah Palin could conceivably achieve significant power on the world stage. Good luck to Obama, who is palpably a man of goodwill and integrity, and who is lucky enough not to be enmeshed in the ‘beholden’ pattern of traditional politics, being a rank outsider. At least he has a chance of setting things in the right direction in spite of all the forces against change… though God knows he will need all the help he can get. Believe me, there are waves of goodwill coming his way from all over the world (of which over half the population rejoiced when he was elected – amazing!). Makes a nice change, eh?
Good grief. I only meant to say the first sentence…. But, hey, why miss an opportunity? :)

        • David says:

JP…this a lighthearted website. Quit trying to insert your political views and make yourself sound smart with a quote you probably took 30 minutes to write. Palpably? Beholden? This is a website for pictures of people with mullets and potty humor. Go away.

Russ- very hot…and I think the cheap disposable American flag tablecloth only makes her hotter!

        • AD says:

LMBO at “Obama, who is palpably a man of goodwill and integrity, and who is lucky enough not to be enmeshed in the ‘beholden’ pattern of traditional politics, being a rank outsider.”

Oh wait, were you serious? Oops…awkward.

          • JP says:

Sorry. You’re right. So not the place to make serious points. Can’t help the vocabulary, it’s a way of being more precise with meaning, and if you take it for pomposity and self-importance, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Dreadfully pedantic, but also I just love language. It exists to be used. You don’t like it, tough s**t.
And there’s plenty of humour here which isn’t puerile. And some which is but which is also killingly funny. America (for most of your material and subscribers appears to be US based) is the land which has produced The Simpsons, American Guy and South Park, all three of which are both – and haven’t been bettered so far as I know.
Cheer up, chuck. Expand your horizons…:))

        • MichelleO says:

Name one opinion that is appalling. I guarentee you that she never said it. You bought propaganda, my dear. Do your homework for heaven’s sake.

          • David says:

All, the, vocabulary, in, the, world, can’t, teach, you, how, to, use, a, freakin’, comma, though!

  44. Cheryl says:

Ok, it’s obviously a product placement ad. But the problem is, I just cannot decide what I’m supposed to “buy.”

    Options:

A: Alaska tourism: with all that pesky global warming, we just lay around up here in Alaska tanning all of the time in our short shorts.

B: Tanning salon services: those legs are tanner than Brittany Spears on her darkest day.

C: Her political candidacy: yes, I’m so hot and patriotic and scantily clad – of course you want to vote for me

D: her idea that you can indeed see Russia from her living room window

E: one of the two electronic devices she’s obviously showing off

F: her decorating panache – I mean, who else displays a flag like she does?

G: her behavioral endorsement of half-a**ed parenting: well, we have two electric sockets and a couple of young kids one with some cognitive problems. I just can’t decide whether or not I want to protect them from accidental electrocution…should I child-protect the sockets or not??? well, I’ll just child protect one of them and leave the other socket easily accessible. I’m a maverick at parenting too.

    • Penny says:

      Love it!

(I am glad someone else noticed the sockets…)

    • Jes says:

How long did you stare at this photo thinking of reasons to hate her? I mean, really. Get a hobby.
      A.) They’re probably panty hose
      B.) See “A”
C.) Wearing long sleeves and panty hose isn’t exactly “scantily clad”. If you think this is “scantily clad”, Michelle Obama in her endless supply of sleeveless outfits is practically a nudist.
D.) Not her idea, it was Tina Fey

G.) I’m pretty sure this is an office, where there aren’t necessarily babies crawling around on the floor all day, and there’s a fairly good chance that something was recently plugged in to that socket and was removed for this awkwardly staged photoshoot.

      • AK_Mama says:

This may be an office, but I’d bet it’s in her home. This photo shoot took place in Wasilla. Her offices are in Juneau and Anchorage. See that lake out there? That’s probably Lake Lucille, which her home was built next to.

      • Binker says:

Snore-you need a new hobby. Trolling sites just doesn’t suit you. Your post wasn’t even funny.

    • Albert says:

      running shoes actually

    • Binker says:

Hilarious, Cheryl! Thanks for having a sense of humor, on a funny website!

  45. girlgeek says:

    Gah! Just go away already!

  46. decyferite says:

I really hope and pray that with her resignation, she will just disappear and go away. But sadly I fear this will not be the case. Please Sarah Palin, leave us alone. You and Ann Coulter can skip merrily to Russia from your house. Please do… Oh please do…

    • jackson says:

and get lost in the woods and eaten by a bear on your way there….

      • Leonard says:

This is what I can’t stand – meanness and intolerance. Politically, I disagree sharply with President Obama (as I did with President Clinton and other Democrats). However, I would never wish harm on anyone I disagreed with.

This country is going into the toilet, and it’s not the Democrats’ fault or the Republicans’ fault. People just aren’t nice anymore. And it’s sad.

        • Need More Coffee says:

          Amen!

        • Billybob says:

Are you listening to what you are saying? You have just turned peoples jokes in to some ignorant redneck rant. It’s people like you that focus on the negative and if you can’t find any you go as far as to turn peoples sensless humor into an example.

          • Leonard says:

“I really hope… she will just disappear and go away” – fair enough.

“…get lost in the woods and eaten by a bear…” – wishing harm on somebody, even if meant in jest.

That’s my point – when did it become OK to pretend (hopefully) that you wish physical harm and/or death on someone, even if you are supposedly “kidding?” That’s where we have crossed the line and become numb to such meanness.

To me, THAT is what is “sensless” (sic).

          • Lacie says:

            THANK YOU Billybob!!!

          • Amy says:

The thing is that the so called ‘jokes’ aren’t funny! They are not original, they are not humerous! They are cruel jokes and if this is what we call humor these days, people have got to get a life and be more creative not make supposed jokes like these!

    • patrick says:

Best thing that could happen to this country is if she beats the current socialist resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, in 2012.

      • e says:

She should head over to N. Korea and go annoy the hell out of them. And I think Obama is a kick a** president.

        • S B says:

          Please explain WHY???

He can’t. Obama’s done nothing but run up dept, suck up to our enemies and insult our allies. Ask any supporter what Obama has done, and they cannot give one concrete answer. Talk about star struck! They should have just voted for Michael Jackson.

Do you even know what socialism is?

      • Dave says:

She is a raging socialist! Her state takes oil profits and redistributes them to the citizens of Alaska. I can’t think a more socialist policy that that.

        • mebinger says:

seriously, I would love to get a check from the government. Especially outside of my normal rights as an american. Wait, they didn’t sign over there rights of speech, assembly or bearing of arms to get that check, did they?

        • Jennifer says:

Hey genius she didn’t start that. I lived there 30 years ago and got oil
          dividends.

Do you people have anything better to do than rant and rave at each other? Give me a break! You’re not funny! Get over yourselves and get a life so you can find true happinesss. Does it realy make you happy to be ignorant idiots?!!! That’s exactly what you are!

          • Jennifer says:

I’ve got plenty to do, and I don’t like her either, but
when people make up reasons to complain about someone it
            annoys me.

And so if that throw blanket hits the floor, does she have to burn it?

Ha, real question: those little mucklucks, are those Trig’s or Bristol’s kid’s?

  48. Ed says:

I don’t think that’s a “tan” on her legs. Looks to me like panyhose.

  49. I have those same shoes.

  50. Robert says:

Seems like a pretty crummy way to treat Old Glory. It’s not a freaking blanket, after all… More respect for the colors would be appreciated.

I agree. It is not a prop.

      Here’s a question-
Why does AFP keep posting stupid photoshop pics that are neither awkward nor family photos?

    • Nachista says:

That US Army flag in the window isn’t a “mobile”, it is a blue star mother flag. It means she has one living child actively serving in a combat zone. If there was a gold star it would mean that she had a child die in combat. Multiple stars represent multiple children serving in war.

I’m disgusted by the disrespectful treatment of our national ensign. As the mother of a US serviceman and as the govenor of a state she should KNOW better. When not in use it should be properly folded and stowed.

      • AK_Mama says:

Those service flags aren’t just for mothers, they are for anyone who has an immediate family member serving in combat. I proudly displayed mine when my husband went to Iraq, and again when he went to Afghanistan.
