Awkward Family Story: No Easy Listening

July 10th, 2009

My friends and I were going to go to a concert one weekend, but the night before my Dad insisted that I spend the night at his house so I could attend my younger sister’s third birthday party. Of course, my friends had to come with me.When he was driving us back to his house, he pulled out a CD and said he heard it was the hip music. It was Fergie. As the song “Fergalicious” played, we all sat in awkward silence.

As if that wasn’t awkward enough, when we got back to his house he read that there was a parental advisory on the album, and apologized to my friends if it was offensive. Not offensive, just the most awkward car ride I’ve ever experienced.

I don’t find this awkward at all! I used to love it when my parents let me play my music in the car.

Your dad is just trying to relate to you You should be thankful that he cares enough to make an attempt like that, even if it was an awkward attempt.

Ugh…all the stories on this site are so weak. I really wish it would just stick to photos.

it’s a parent’s job to embarrass their teens.. lol… when you get older you’ll appreciate his efforts ;-)
personally, I cant wait to embarrass the heck out of my kids.. hehehehe. They are still little enough right now for me to be “cool”

this story is not awkward at all. I think the most awkward thing about it is that someone acually took the time to write and post it on here. The song could atleast have been my humps, and when you got to his house he could have started lecturing your friends on the changes that there bodies are going through

it might be awkward for someone who’s 16 and insecure, but if it was my dad, i would be falling out of the car laughing
