I knew these two in high school and I promise, not only is he the same age, the are DEFINITELY not brother and sister. As awkward as this picture is, you should have seen the grin on his face during the slow dances – he had his own pillows!
When I was a senior in high school I took a picture with a sweet freshman that had a huge crush on me simply because he asked me to. The picture looked remarkably similar to this.
I’ve really got to hear a story behind this one. Whats going on? I went to high school briefly in the US (Europe most of my life) and I know this could never happen unless someone was the brunt of the joke in the states.
Well I’ll say this much, regardless of what grade that dude was in,if I was in his shoes I would be thanking my lucky stars. Hey it’s not everyday you get to put a feather in your cap and tell your buddies at school the next day about where your face/head was laying during the slow dance. Ha Ha Ha Ha ! Good for Him!
I saw the pic, and thought “awww poor kid, I am NOT going to laugh … how sweet, they both actually look pretty happy to be there …” and then I saw the caption. Guffaw is not to strong a word for what I did.
You, my friends, on the Hell Train. LMAO!!!
Awesome comments as well, kids.
snorg!
That looks like every dance I went to from grade 6-11. And slow dancing involved me trying to bend at the ankles, knees, waist, and shoulders to close the 1′ vertical gap between my head and my dates…
Thank god I never took pictures. This picture resurrects the awkward pain just fine.
Maybe they are siblings and were in a relative’s wedding and they had this photo booth set up for pictures. It’s the only thing that would make any sense! He can’t be old enough for a prom, and their faces look so much alike!
Next to the usual prom nonsense, this is actually *less* awkward.
I like both these kids, a lot. Clearly this isn’t a romantic thing, but these are people who like each other going to some dance or event. Friendship isn’t awkward at any height.
You go, little man! For the second time in a week on this site (the first was pubescent Hooters birthday boy, which tragically appears to have been removed), Jimmy Hendrix’s “Foxxy Lady” is going off in my head!
***Any comments that are offensive to the point of being viciously personal, racist, homophobic, exceedingly profane, violent or too graphic in nature won't be posted. We want to keep this site a friendly place to be awkward. Thanks!***

It’s “Sonny & Cher: The Early Years.”

it’s like sixteen candles…reversed!
looks like a bridesmaid and ring bearer to me…especially with the churchy-looking window in the background….
never going to see eye to eye on anything.

I think this is sweet. Take a good look at them. They are brother and sister. Big sister took kid brother to the prom-for whatever reason.
Sometimes shortness has its awkward advantages.
I’ve really got to hear a story behind this one. Whats going on? I went to high school briefly in the US (Europe most of my life) and I know this could never happen unless someone was the brunt of the joke in the states.
So you’re saying that something like this would happen in Europe.
A wrist corsage would have been easier, but this kid obviously likes a challenge.
Trevin called. He wants his pedestal back.
EPIC prom win!!! You GO, boy!
I’d say it was bring your child to prom day.

in his favor I hope never. but seriously are they even the same age??
i hope she is older than him
What you don’t realize is that he is actually 5’9″ and she is 8′ tall.
yes thats what I thought…SHE is the tall one and he is regular height, and now she is making millions of dollars as a runway model.
Oh geez.

Yes I feel your pain. My bf has the same problem
What if that is just a really young looking mom and this was a Mom and Son dance…
*Shudder* That ups the awkward factor by 10!!

The self-satisfied smirk on his face pretty much says it all — this kid is right where he wants to be at the moment!
Keep smiling, girlfriend. Pity dates bring good karma. Plus, you look nice in that dress.
Flashbacks of the movie Sixteen Candles are coming back to me now….
Does he really look old enough to be at a prom? This has to be a different event…
Perhaps this was who the original Doogie Howser was based upon?
I’m willing to bet either he skipped a whole bunch of grades OR it’s an 8th grade promotion dance picture
Those two were shoe-ins for king and queen at the home school prom 2004
HAHAHAHAHA. Too funny. Home schooled kids are always awkward
My daughter has been home/cyber schooled and I assure you she is anything but awkward.
Hey, don’t be rude. The average home schooler is better looking (and obviously more polite) than the average public schooler, and probably you.
Is your last name Buzzkillington by any chance Han?
Really? I want to know, for real, these two were prom dates?
Note the awkward cardboard column on the left.
I love the “Kung-Fu” grip hand hold… Great stuff
Kung-Pow……. lol

My God, ….. Is that the same pedestal that was used for the guy perched with a lacy parasol and fan ??
This must be the photo studio out of Twilight Zone.
That was the pedestal guy in his “early” years…
Giggity!
He knew getting skipped 3 grades would be the most awesome experience of his lifetime.
He better be careful. He might just lose an eye!!
thanks……….just spit my water on the keyboard. “youll put your eye out” mwahhhh hah hah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAA *snorts*
Or, worst case scenario, that’s his sister.
Go shorty it’s ya birfday…
(*hands in the air, raising the roof*)
Joey’s schoolchums were green with envy when they saw this picture on his MySpace page the next day…
I was thinking “Like a deer in headlights.”
No, that’s the caption for their dancing pose.
Gives the song “Put your head on my shoulder” new meaning!
You go, little man! For the second time in a week on this site (the first was pubescent Hooters birthday boy, which tragically appears to have been removed), Jimmy Hendrix’s “Foxxy Lady” is going off in my head!
It’s not prom that they are celebrating, it’s puberty!
Looks like he’s a little early to the party, then.
OMG very funny comment
“I had to take my twirp of a brother to the prom”!
that is what I thought. Is it her little brother?
Awww, bless his heart.
It seems to me that he doesn’t need that growth spurt.
yum
I really don’t believe he has a problem with her being that much taller than him..
)
Thanks for the completely original comment.
Unless that’s a wedding pic and that’s his double first cousin, I’d say he’s probably happy with his height at the moment.
Can’t stop laughing…
Two words: awe-some!
…LOL…
I’d say the look on his face tells us he IS the right height for the 1st slow dance! haha
hahahaha
ahhhh haaa haaaa haaa!!!!
I’d say he’s right where he wants to be!
LoL…Lucky kid!
ZING!
I’d say he picked his prom date well. The look on his face says it all.
Way to make a original joke, Pam
……( I am the MAN !!!!! )……
lol
