  2. Samuel says:

Now this photo I actually really like, it’s not very awkward and it’s actually quite cute

  3. Graembo says:

Why on EARTH would you have your instruments out on the beach? The thought of sand getting on a nice instrument makes me want to rip my hair out.

OMG, I just outed myself as the music nerd.

    I’ll shut up now.

  4. Brother Maynard says:

These two are from the band Coyote and play regularly in Ocracoke. Both are outstanding musicians and really nice people. Best of luck to them on all of their endeavors :)

  5. Kim says:

    Scones … and Yanni

  6. Slywy says:

    This one’s cute.

  7. CarrieM says:

Look at the way she’s sitting. Looks very awkward to me.

  8. JT says:

UNawkward. Trying too hard with some of these photos, but site is great!

  9. Kharlos says:

a bit cheesy maybe? Not site-worthy though, IMO.
Maybe I’m just sad cause you guys are sitting on a bunch of my submissions which are winners! :-P

  10. sconelover says:

Hey!!! I love scones!! What’s wrong with scones??

  11. catherine says:

    Worst beach picnic ever.

  12. chris says:

I am confused by the scone comment and lack of awkwardness as well.

  13. madame ruby says:

    Scones? I don’t get it.

  14. hs says:

they’re waiting for michael to row his boat ashore.

  15. Skipping Lunch says:

Bet they adhere to the Twin Flame philosophy………..

    (which is quite interesting, actually)

  16. nicswife says:

    check out her legs. awkward!

  17. jitterbug says:

what does scones have to do with anything??

  18. Peg says:

Summer lovin, had me a blast!

  19. Tim says:

Little known to their fans, The Captain and Tennielle once tried thier hand at the folk scene.

  20. patti says:

Nothing awkward about this at all

  21. npoet says:

Потрясающе! Хочется перечитывать снова и снова… Такие авторы сегодня большая редкость.

  22. Bucky says:

Seems Billy Joe and Bobbi Sue made off with the lute after all …

    • Amy says:

      Best. Comment. Ever.

    • c says:

You take that back, ya damn lyre.

    • oygirl says:

Would be funnier if the instrument actually was a lute. It’s a mandolin.

      • Angie says:

        Dear Oy,

Your sense of humor is waiting for you in Will Call. Meanwhile, if you’re trying to act as their publicist or something, I think your work here is done.

        • oygirl says:

Hi Angie – my sense of humor is intact. I did get it – and actually thought it was quite funny…I love a good play on words). Just would’ve been even funnier if it had been a lute. Now to think of a good word play using mandolin…

          • alison says:

why correct a joke? just laugh and move on…

          • oygirl says:

(can’t get this comment to nest at the right level)

Well said, Alison. I think I was secretly envious that I didn’t think of the “damn lyre” reply since C beat me to it. Of course, that WAS before I picked up my sense of humor at Will Call. :)

            ^
Laughing (mostly at self). Moving on.

  23. Family Man says:

I dig a scone now and then.

  24. Nyla says:

Ok, maybe it’s time to include a Scale of Awkwardness with each picture. Where, instead of making a lame comment like “It’s not awkward, it’s cute”, people can just score each picture.

I think everyone has a different definition of Awkward, and I, for one, am tired of seeing fights about it.

    • ack says:

1- All they need now is a compound bow! Hahahaha
2- This is not awkward at all, it’s sweet!
3- You people are idiots that’s the arrow of light. Good for you kid!
      4- Van Helsings
5- omg lol rotfl so AWKWARD!

  25. Abbie says:

    So not awkward.

  26. Ralph says:

“I’ve been everywhere and yet…I’ve never been…to me.”

  27. labellemere says:

Nope, sorry, scones are not mentioned in “My Favorite Things.” Crisp apple strudel or schnitzel with noodles, maybe. But no scones.

  28. Greatdaniel13 says:

Are they sitting on sea oats? Thats not allowed. Maybe this is a picture for their single “I won your heart and crushed Mother Nature”.

  29. Bluto says:

    I gave my love a cherry…..

  30. Lamech says:

They’re gonna have to pawn those instruments to pay the fine for trampelling endangered dune grasses.

  31. Kimberly says:

    K-Tel presents:
“We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun…”
    Summer Serenade
“Sweet Carolina girls…best in the world…”
    Featuring all your beach-loving favorites
    “Brandy…you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you’d be…”

  32. brece says:

Here’s why I’d argue it is a little awkward. Lady looks like a stay-at-home mom and dude kinda looks like her um, let’s say “pool guy”. Plus they are wearing long pants and long-sleeved black shirts while on the beach. Dude also doesn’t look too convinced with the photoshoot.

    • doggiekittymama says:

It may be winter on this beach and cold enough for long sleeved clothing. Looks fine to me. Live near the beach in the Northeast-photos like these are not that uncommon.

    • oygirl says:

Okay, I just gotta ask – what, exactly, does a “stay at home mom” look like? I don’t think there’s a “type” for that. Not sure what pool guys look like either, but this guy happens to be her um, let’s say “husband”. :) They are both professional musicians so the shot was done as a publicity shot, therefore holding the instruments is not awkward either.

Marcy and Lou (that’s who those people are) both thought it funny that their picture was on the site, and Marcy agreed that it might even be a bit awkward. But it’s nothing compared to most of what’s out here!

This particular beach is in NC, where it is not warm year ’round (like FL beaches might be) and therefore often perfectly normal to be in long sleeves/pants.

    • brandon says:

      Can I co-sign this comment?

  33. baxter says:

the question is, “which one is the poser?”

    no, wait, they both are

  34. oygirl says:

This is actually not awkward at all, nor is it their engagement photo. That’s a band called Coyote, and that’s a photo from one of their albums.

    • JP says:

That’s what it looks like. Not awkward. They look more sensible than most would under the circumstances. Cliche band pose, but what can you do?

    • emm says:

as much as i want to post some snarky comment, i have to agree with you oy—i think this is a great pic! what great people they are–shes recently been battling cancer, and hes just a doll–bless em both! :) (although i dont condone sitting on the sea oats…) gotta love ocracoke island!

    • Well then... says:

      Win!

      • Lamech says:

Now that we know it’s a band photo, there’s clearly nothing at all awkward about it. Yep. It’s an non-awkward as a photo can possibly be.

  35. Liz says:

Isn’t this how John and Yoko started?

  36. MST says:

Seals and Croft, the Early Years.

  37. Raymmmondo says:

    I don’t get it.

  38. Rodrigo y Gabriela?

  39. sir jorge says:

i don’t know, once again, this doesn’t seem that awkward, sure maybe a little…but otherwise not half bad for musicians

  40. lagrange says:

I’m definitely feeling a “kumbaya” feeling
