Try being a 6′2″ male, who’s Grandmother forced to learn to crochet (because as stated in front of the entire family “your the only grand-daughter I have”). Now I can out sew the old biddy lmao.

My grandmother was a housekeeper for a couple of parish priests, and she used to say she had more fun with her two priests she considered sons than her own daughters. She said this once in front of my mom. I told her you DON’T say that to your daughter, and she said “but I did!! [have more fun]” Ugh.

In baseball, when a pitcher throws the ball, it is not a ball or a strike until the umpire calls it one or the other. I would say ‘dear old mom’ was just calling it like she sees it!
