We have had some pretty good awkward photos of late, the feline lovers and the underwear factory owning family…this one however is just cute, a bit cheesy but not at all awkward.
I can’t believe this photo is even considered for posting after that cat one the other day. These ladies don’t even look awkward… just three cute sisters smiling for the camera among the trees. The cat one had naked fat people, censored only by their overweight felines!

The problem with this idea, although cute in theory, is that one person ends up in EXTREME CLOSE UP and then the poor person at the end is completely out of focus, like they weren’t even supposed to be in the picture and just popped out of the shrubbery like some stalker or flasher.
It’s called “deep focus” in Greg Toland’s cinematography, and simply “small aperture” in photography. One can take landscapes with figures in the foreground, too. No sweat.
Now, the foreshortening involved — causing people up front to look like giants — *that* should be an official awkward family photo category, I think. Lots of group shots wind up with an enormous-looking face in the front row, all out of proportion.
