The funny thing is that whenever my friends have shown me their Disneyland vacation pics, there is always a picture exactly like this one in the album. So much for the happiest place on earth.
Mandatory Fun Day!
This photo is the reason you should take photos in front of Cinderella’s castle when you get to the park, not at the end of the day.
They got there and found out it was closed.
It’s a depressed world after all!
Zippity do dah, zippety aye….my oh my what a wonderful day….
Dear Aunt Mary,
Having a great time! Wish you were here!
“This family WILL have fun or ELSE!”
This reminds me of a time when my family was at Disney World in the 70s and we overheard a man telling his family “SHUT UP AND KEEP HAVING FUN!!!!!!”
haha, same here! i saw a little boy about 5 crying his eyes out, and his mom–holding her camera–grabbed him and said “STOP IT RIGHT NOW–youre ruining our vacation! now get over there and KISS WINNIE THE POOH!” poor kid is probably in therapy now…
This photo looks exactly how I felt at Disney World, as a tween. It was too hot, the lines were too long, and everything was too expensive. Even at age 11, I was like the hell with this-can we go lounge by the pool? To this day, I feel like some kind of secretive leper because I sort-of hate Disney World.
I love the caption under the photo.
Bottom line is that the kids are too old to enjoy this kidde park…..
Bingo!!
Man, somebody could sure use a churro and a Pepsi, eh???? O_o
After driving cross-country, the Grunwold family found themselves in a surreal “life imitating art” moment when they learned the Happiest Place on Earth was closed for cleaning and repairs.
“Yeh, yeh – happiest place on the freakin’ earth. Jus’ take the damned picture and let’s get outta here!”
After their 28th day in captivity, the Johnson family submitted this photo hoping somebody will pay the ransom.
Oh my God! My family has this same shot. I had to look twice to make sure the girl in the red was not my sister.
woo….. hoo…..
>P
“Russ, RUSS!!!” “I’m right here”
Maybe this family wanted to go to WalleyWorld instead of Disneyland?
…there is just one Earth and a golden Sun, and a smile means friendship to anyone….
I hope that Mickey didn’t get b****-slapped in the next frame.
I’ve been here before. July in Orlando, crabby, angry family being forced to pose in front of the Magic Kingdom right before we left the park. Except our photo was used a Christmas Card picture.
I refuse to believe I ever dressed like that back in the 80′s…
Oh, and wonder what’s on the girl in the red’s mind? Check out her hands…
I think Dad might have left the tickets on the kitchen bench at home…
The family was just informed by dad, that after spending their vacation at the “happiest place on earth”, they would now be spending Thanksgiving at aunt Marney’s..
Haha!
And littlest girl is ashamed because she broke the family regulation cassarole.
Good one! I about peed my pants. lol
That will be tomorrow and where the hell could they find potatoes – the right kind of potatoes – until then???
Am I the only one that thinks that maybe they took this picture JUST so they could submit it to awkwardfamilyphotos.com?? Hmmmmm???
Myself, I don’t think it’s faked. First off, the fashions suggest an era pre-AFP. Secondly, those glum looks are entirely too genuine.
Yeah, they went on vacation in their 80′s clothes just to have us on.
Circa 1986? They should play the lottery if they have prediction skills that good.
Jiminy Christmas, somebody needs to learn how to resize and optimize images, post haste. This file is larger than it needs to be by an entire power of ten.
I refuse to smile for this fake Christmas card photo in this lame studio. I’m gonna tell Grandma that Dad blew the vacation money she sent us down at the casino.
Whatever dude. This vacation is like, totally lame. Fer shur.
LOL!! We are like totally are bummed out and want to like go home now.
Should have went to Wally World!
Wally World FTW!
I’m very happy to see somebody else thinks those two girls look just like Mayim Bialik.
I thought the same thing about the girl on the right!
As the only boy in a family full of irritating girls and a short tempered mother, I can pretty much figure out what went on here.
LOL. Nailed it. “Dammit, everyone one just shut up and look over here, NOW.” It’s a family fuss fest compounded by how much money we’re wasting on this misery. Got a Flicker site filled with this genre.
Disney Rule #1: Always take the kids’ photos at the beginning of the day when they’re still excited.
the kids?!? of all of them, MOM looks the most miserable! hahaha! (i feel her pain)
They planned on going to the “Happiest Place on Earth” but only made it as far as “The Happiest Place on Earth Annex.” Not the real thing, but you can see it from here.
Two very special Blossoms!
This makes me glad that I’ve never been there.
Amen!
YUP… never been and probably never will…
“Stop whining! We are going to Disney World, as a Family, whether you like it or not! We are going to have fun so put a smile on your face”
I hear my mom saying that thru gritted teeth right now…
Well, it is the happiest place on earth.
Is this the new print ad for “Disney’s Magic Kingdom”…I think it portrays the real Disney experience.
I agree…it only gets worse if you take on 3 other parks in the week that you book to that place ;o).
I wonder if this is before or after paying $60 for 4 stale donuts and 4 small coffees….
Forget the expressions, what I find really awkward is that the top of the castle’s cut off …
They’re realizing that they spent their entire vacation budget on tickets just to get into the park and will now have to sleep in the car for the rest of the week.
It’s obvious their all made at the camera man (dad) for forcing them on this miserable vacation.
Nothing like July in Orlando, heat, humidity, crowds, high prices, crabby employees and a many other signs of the end of days. Just magical in every way. Take your family.
I HAD a picture just like this and now that this site exists, I’m glad I am the family photo editor… it went into the trash can… along with the 20 others like it. I saved the one where I got at least 2 people smiling.
SWEEEEEEEETTTTTTT jams that boy has on! i miss them
Just take the damn picture!
At least the person on the left end is making an attempt to “get in the Disney spirit” with her attire … but I’m too depressed to care now. ;-[
After $4,000 and an 18-hour-car ride in 100 degree heat, the whole family was “excited” to be at the Happiest place on Earth.
Welcome to the Unhappiest Place on Earth.
The parking lot at the Denny’s next to Disneyland.
Funny stuff!
Hahaha…I love the girl in the front who can’t even bring herself to look at the camera…lol
Denny’s parking lot. LOL. That’s where my Dad would have taken us. We would have walked there and darnnit, we would have liked it!
Kids these days.
i dont think they even actually went INTO disneyworld…but they were sure gonna pose with that castle in the background to make it seem like they did!
this picture reminds you that 1. its hot 2. their feet hurt and 3. the wait for any line (including the bathroom) in entirely too long….what a magical vacation!
