I think I had that outfit in the 80s. Got it at Dress Barn.

Did anyone check to see if his tie is too tight? He doesn’t look right.

  9. taylor says:

  11. Rose says:

    Follow the yellow pitcher! Hahahaha!

  13. Jeff says:

The Joker just called. He wants his coat back.

I’d like to know where he shops!

  15. Theres only 1 Bonnie says:

What a great color for him, plus- a man in a suit like would scare a mugger away.

  16. LittleMsKB says:

Grape Ape…Grape Ape! So much purple…love it!

  17. bagel says:

    Is he wearing a yarmulke?

  18. Miffy says:

So many questions I would like answered, like where was he going or for what occasion was he wearing this?

I definitely agree that he looks uncomfortable. I also think he’s attractive in an odd sort of way.

  19. lagrange says:

    yeah, baby!

  20. jenniep says:

i love how the soda can on the counter totally coordiates with the whole outfit. im betting argyle socks and spats can be seen in a full body shot. im envious

  21. Just Passing Thru says:

It’s Professor Plum, In the Kitchen, with they YELLOW PITCHER!!

  22. JuliAnn says:

Well I happen to be the offspring of this photo. Its a really good thing he doesn’t know its up. The expression is “I don’t want to take this photo”, the outfit is courtesy of Savers store. The event? A tacky party. Suprisingly, he won. Trust me, you didn’t want to see my mom.

  23. ME says:

How is this awkard? I dont get it?

    • Spritely says:

      No, you really don’t.

Look at the expression on his face. Even HE thinks it’s awkward.

      It is awesomely awkward.

  24. joancrown says:

Even he is surprised at how ridiculous he looks.

  25. Liz says:

One should always coordinate the color of one’s bow tie with one’s hair, or vice versa.

  26. Joanne says:

    Austin Powers would be proud!

  27. Erik says:

Actually, that is a good photo. Well lit. Looks like it’s taken from a movie, he could have been a charachter in Napoleon Dynamite.

  28. Jorge Curioso says:

It’s Dean Stockwell from Quantum Leap!

  29. Lorena says:

Haha it´s soooo true! he reminds me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in wonderland!!

  30. gruven_reuven says:

The silver ticket got me into Willy Wonka’s Kitchen

  31. Cynthia says:

    Ben Stine, the early days

  32. Sarah Kester says:

He looks like he belongs in Alice and Wonderland.

  33. Tim says:

    “Come to Pepperland…drink the Kool-Aid…”

  34. T. Brown says:

I covet that outfit. I really do.

  35. Jeff B. says:

Moments before walking into the Halloween party, Simon was easing into his Elton John costume, both mentally and physically. Suddenly he found himself feeling all tingly inside and his friend Ramon captured the moment on film.

  36. Anon says:

Mike Byron giving a look of sheer bewilderment followed by an angry Aunt Marney who was not pleased when he walked into the kitchent sans Hagan Daz Peppermint Bark Ice Cream. It was then he realized… “I shouldn’t have spent that last $4.50 on this suit.”

  37. mandy_Reeves says:

He’s trying on his Elton John Halloween Costume

  38. Snowrider says:

It’s Mike Byron searching for the right cassarole dish……You can feel his stress from his Aunt Marney angst.

  39. Crystals Mom says:

Does he have something on his head?

    • Marie says:

Yes, it’s what ladies call a “french twist”. There’s so much going on in this picture, I could look at it for an hour and still find something new. The colorfully bizarre outfit, the bewildered look on his face, the lovely french twist, the top of which you can just see at the back of his head, the yellow pitcher echoed in the background on a shelf in the open cabinet by a smaller yellow pitcher or mug, the splashes of royal blue all through the kitchen and on the guy’s clothes, the empty banana tree, the soda can with a spoon nearby (why the spoon? no coffee mug, can’t fit in the soda can – maybe he was eating Haagen Daas right out of the tub?), the carelessly laid white and royal blue towel.

This is a freakin’ work of ART is what it is. Aesthetically gorgeous.

      • John says:

Wow.. so… you don’t get out much, huh? Looks like everybody else’s kitchen to me :P

      • Boppie says:

        I think it’s a yarmulke, not a chignon. Just a thought.

        • starr says:

yes, yes, I agree..it’s definitely a yarmulke, and he may be dressed for a special occasion, like a sabbath celebration.

      • Bobbi says:

I agree with John. Looks like every kitchen I’ve ever saw….and the fact that you’re taking note on everything is a little creepy in and of itself lol

      • marykerry says:

Marie! I agree! This is exactly the kind of stuff we’d critique for hours in my photography classes in college! The sprinkling of blue is quite nice and I absolutely cannot stop looking at the two yellow shapes that are so similar!

      • Rose says:

So you’re saying you liked it?

        • Marie says:

I was kidding about the french twist. I had no idea what was on his head. But, if it’s a yarmulke, he should have worn a pink or royal blue one!

      • jRo says:

i agree, this needs to be in MOMA

        • someyounguy says:

actually, the rule of threes is in full effect here, the yellow in the pitcher, the mug, and the butter under the banana tree. the red/maroon in the guy’s suit, the dish soap, and the soda. the blue in the towel, the hand soap, and the ceramics jars to his right. the field of focus leaves him looking more displaced and composited. i agree, nan golden couldn’t have done this shot better.

      • adam says:

It’s true. There are a brilliant amount of subleties in this one. Great art.

        • Heather says:

I like to spend time looking at details in the pictures, as well. I don’t think that means we need to get a life. Some people are into details, some just like the initial humor and move on. Neither one is wrong or pathetic.

      • Spritely says:

I agree. This is right up there with the “Rear Window” and “Twilight Zone” pictures for artistry. It’s one of the few color pictures that I feel that way about.
