The girl on the right (behind dad) is EXACTLY the kind of girl I would have had the hots for at the time this picture was taken. Heck, if she’s all grown up, she’s probably the kind of woman I’d like now!
Ok, the story is that my crazy Cuban dad has a warped sense of humor and liked to lead us down the path of absolute embarrassment in the annual family photos. He set up the tripod for this one and instructed us all to look shocked and horrified.
Yes, this IS from the late 70′s, so shag, magnetic soap, and geometrics were all the rage…My dad’s most recent hilarity is in their new home, there is an outdated non-functioning air vent in the bathroom wall, in view of the toilet. He thought it was hilarious idea to take a photo of he and my mom, both laughing and pointing towards the person sitting in the toilet, and he mounted it behind that bathroom wall.
We have more ridiculous photos which I will upload at a later date, but thanks for commenting, you made us all laugh like crazy!
the picture behind the vent idea is GENIUS! probably scared the s*** out of everyone who saw it…pun intended X-D no more long waits for the restroom, eh?
you mom & dad seem like their both a lot of fun
PLEASE post more pics as you find them! loving it!
That’s hilarious… I know this sounds weird but I thought your father looked familiar. Coming from a Cuban family myself, I’ve noticed the men tend to all have a certain “look” to them. Don’t you agree? :^)
This looks like a TV Guide promo pic for a cheesy 70′s (or early 80′s) sitcom. Listen closely and you can hear BJ Thomas belting out the theme song. Just imaging the timeless catchphrases that could originate from this bunch!
I bet this appeared in their annual Christmas newsletter that year with a snappy caption…”And in February, Henry installed a new toilet. We were all SO proud and surprised at his handiness!”
If you look really closely, it’s the soap with the magnet in it, so there’s the magnetic dock somewhere in the back that it sticks to. My grandparents had this soap, and I always thought it was pretty cool that it didn’t need a dish…
He’s the only man in the family and he’s tired of that furry toilet seat cover causing the seat to slam down on him in the middle of taking a leak! He’s deciding to sit like all the girls in his family!
I am with you that is exactly what i thought when I saw it too, I could see my dad doing this to us back in the 70′s if he would have thought about it LOL
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. The faces are obviously instructed and they’re not even looking at the same place, so I think Dad was just like ‘admire the toilet, girls!’ and someone snapped the pic.
That wall paper is awesome. But not to miss the lovely fuzzy rug on the floor and matching fuzzy toilet seat cover. Where have the good old days gone? And his shoes, awesome suede.

I think the fact that he can use the potty with his pants still on is QUITE impressive.
funniest pic lol
What a GREAT Christmas card photo!!!!!

What is the little girl holding and what is with the wallpaper and the shag mat with matching toliet seat cover
Watch what you say, the GIRL in the red might be reading this today. (ME!) Thanks for the confidence builder.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You make the world a better place Tres!
I agree! Hilarious photo and hilarious comments!

Tune in next Saturday for It’s A Very Brady New Toilet!
I think the ladies are happy because he’s adopted Winston Churchhill’s advice….”Why stand when you can sit?”
A rejected photo for the original Brady Bunch pitch.
What the ….?!
Some people read a magazine, some like to listen to a live choir while they poop!!!!! I said “poop”
this comment made me spit my drink. hope dad is at least wearing depends under the pants
yes, you did.
Personally, I find this pic a little creepy.. back then I’d prob. find it funny…too many things in the news now..
guess I’m being a party poop.
Am I the only one who thinks the child in red on the left might be a male? It was the 70′s, ya know.
Thanks, You are mean.
Girl in Red
He’s got pants on!
Ya doin’ it wrong!

He has the “CAN DO!” attitude
Wouldn’t that be a “can doo-die” attitude?
Please, Tres…I know you’re reading this. Please just tell us what the heck is going on in this picture and we’ll leave you alone.
And that.. is the Crapper family Christmas card for 1978
I think the ladies in the house finally got Dad to follow Winston Churchill’s advice…”Why stand when you can sit?”
they’re all looking to see if he pooped… I wish they still made toilets like that! the old 5 gallon flush will swallow anything you got for it!
Wow! Tight bathroom.
I bet this appeared in their annual Christmas newsletter that year with a snappy caption…”And in February, Henry installed a new toilet. We were all SO proud and surprised at his handiness!”
What *I* love is how Dad CLEARLY has all the dominant genes in the family. The kids look nothing like Mom!
Proud dad totally looks like my orthodontist. Dr. Miroue, is that you?
Yes, yes it is. You’re due in for a check-up.
Can’t.
Breathe.
Laughing.
Too.
Hard.
Make.
It.
Stop.
Please.
LOL!
I second that plea to Tres! I am officially in love with this picture, this family, and any music they may play together at church.
At least Dad put the seat down………..
The slightly disapproving look mom gives him is GOLDEN!
Most awkward pic I have seen on this site yet!
On the bright side, this family has George Clooney as their dad.
Seriously, that is what I thought, too! That Dad is a stone cold fox.
Is that a blue toilet? Blue? Seriously?
Best. Pic. EVER.
wow, that *is* awkward..
Please Tres, in the name of all that’s sacred, PLEASE tell us the backstory. Other than that, this is the single funniest picture I have EVER seen.
love to know the story behind this one. Like how do you begin to pitch the idea for the photo to the Family
is the girl in red holding a bar of soap?
If you look really closely, it’s the soap with the magnet in it, so there’s the magnetic dock somewhere in the back that it sticks to. My grandparents had this soap, and I always thought it was pretty cool that it didn’t need a dish…
Wow.
Sharp eyes!!!
A thousand internets to you!!!
There are just way too many patterns in this picture to even focus on the toilet issue
The expressions on the girls faces are priceless, especiall the 2 on the left!
The germophobe in me is completely grossed out by the shag rug in the bathroom and ON THE TOILET LID!!!! Arrrgggghhhhh!
I’m with you on that! {shudder}
There were no germs in the that time era. Germs only appeared about 10 years ago
He’s the only man in the family and he’s tired of that furry toilet seat cover causing the seat to slam down on him in the middle of taking a leak! He’s deciding to sit like all the girls in his family!
That’s where my mind went too, or a variation thereof…the importance of putting the seat down…
I love this so much….great pic!
Dad- “Look family…No hands !!!!!! ”
Mom- “Look honey…not even close “
ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dad’s real proud of something….
HA! That is hysterical!
I guess they finally got indoor plumbing?
Check out that amazing multi-colored shag bath mat!
Don’t forget it’s matching toilet seat cover!
Backstory please! Need to know what they’re all looking at, LOL!
King of the castle, sittin’ on the throne!
I am with you that is exactly what i thought when I saw it too, I could see my dad doing this to us back in the 70′s if he would have thought about it LOL
My guess is that Dad installed a new toilet and made the family pose around it…my dad did this kind of stuff all the time when we were kids.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. The faces are obviously instructed and they’re not even looking at the same place, so I think Dad was just like ‘admire the toilet, girls!’ and someone snapped the pic.
They look like a real sweet family.
I’m thinking the kid that got to hold the camera is the lucky one
My first thought, too. Dad probably wasn’t very handy around the house, so when he *did* do something, it had to be celebrated BIG-time.
Next, Dad; TEAR DOWN THAT WALLPAPER!
NO WAY ! The wallpaper is awesome
I dont know which is more awkward- the pose or the wallpaper.
That wall paper is awesome. But not to miss the lovely fuzzy rug on the floor and matching fuzzy toilet seat cover. Where have the good old days gone? And his shoes, awesome suede.
This picture needs to go on my screen saver.
Look, it’s the John Osmond family!
