The “socks” don’t even cover the entire width of the man’s leg, and there are places next to the socks that are clearly bad attempts to clean up/match the pixels. EVERYTHING else in the photo has dimension and color change due to light, shadows, etc. The socks don’t. They are clearly photoshopped in. The shoes aren’t. But someone didn’t think that short socks were awkward enough, so they did a bad job photoshopping in some socks to ‘heighten’ the awkwardness.

And those are screwdrivers, not bloody marys. The glasses have red and white stripes on them. The orange is the juice. Look through the clear part of the glass at the top, and you can see the surface of the orange juice.

Did anyone notice the third glass on the table? Are they inviting me for a drink? Should I take it???

  3. Shonda says:

Put him in white socks and a plaid shirt and you have my father.

  4. Skipping Lunch says:

Yet another happy successful graduate of the Fred Mertz school of fashion design

  5. Lauren says:

What’s wrong with your computer screens people? This photo is clearly not photoshopped. All the shadows are exactly right. Even where the tightest part of the sock near his knee is squeezing his leg. You can SEE the INDENTION PEOPLE! COME ON!!

My father-in-law dresses like this now (not the most fashion forward)! He refuses to wear jeans and wears dress socks with his shorts.

  7. SeƱor Loco says:

What?!!! Is he crazy…buckled shoes?!!! Those went out years ago!!!

  8. Ace says:

I don’t think those pink shorts are pulled up high enough…

  9. Becca says:

    Livin’ the good life.

    Haha!

  10. Roxy says:

I like how he coordinated his belt with his drinking glass, that Fashinisto!

  11. Poindexter says:

I want to be him when I grow old.

  12. Dana says:

“hmm…this ain’t too bad. It’s just an old cou….OH MY GOSH THE SOCKS!!!!!”

  13. patrick says:

there is nothing awkward about this picture, this is a couple clearly enjoying their retirement. My wife and I hope to be half this cool when we are their age.

This could have been my in-laws, may they rest in peace. He wasn’t the sharpest dresser, and could growl like a bear, but he was a big ol’ softy father-in-law. My mil finally got her “colors” done, and from then on, he was always dressed a bit of the same, but in “his” colors, and all color coordinated. Loved ‘em!

  15. Joanne says:

Definitely a Florida Mobile Home Community-I think my grandparents used to live there!

  16. Snowrider says:

And the third glass is for……?

  17. Butterflywings says:

Margaret Thatcher and Truman Capote having cocktails. ;)

    • Teresa says:

LOL! The first thing I said when I saw this pic was, “Is that Margaret Thatcher??” But I think Truman there was ahead of his time. The Harry Caray eyewear collection wouldn’t come out for another 15 years.

    • Jeff says:

I was thinking Mr. and Mrs. Howell, myself.

  18. Bob says:

I submitted this photo…The print was about 3.5 inches square, and the color was lousy. I scanned it and cleaned up some of the dust and scratches and adjusted the color a little. I knew these people and the socks are real not “Photoshopped”.

  19. Bob says:

Oh, yes…Bye the way…They always drank Highballs…Doesn’t everyone?

  20. glasstabletop says:

oh my, this is just such a classic, I almost can’t believe my eyes.
If these were my grandparents, I’d frame this and display it proudly.

  21. Bob says:

I agree. The socks aren’t real. They’ve been ‘chopped.

  22. onewhoreads says:

It is the prospect of dressing in the manner of this gentleman to which I look forward for my own golden years. The “drinking in the afternoon with my pruney wife” part is nice, too.

  23. rosie says:

the glasses might just be white, orange and red striped with clear tops? you never know..

  24. Mel says:

    I have those same cups

  25. Jesse says:

Unknown to most, Warren Buffet and Margaret Thatcher often enjoyed cocktails after a rousing game of shuffleboard
