Reminds me of the Saturday Night Live Spoof of the Lawrence Welk Show

  2. Beanie says:

The middle child looks like she’s thinking “Tonight, they won’t know what hit em’….”

    • Amie says:

OMG! That’s exactly what I thought when I seen that evil grin…

      • Karen S says:

But did you also notice that HER right hand is almost in a fist, while the other two sisters have their right hands open??

Ahhhh…. another indication of the evil to come…. eeeek.

    • ReginaPhalange says:

Yes! And they’d deserve it for giving those girls “Mom” hair.

      • Mary says:

It’s all the Mom’s doing – she gave them the identical outfits and haircuts. And forced them to sit in identical modest poses. They are actually pretty kids – it’s the styling monster that has done this to them. But middle sister will show Mom what scissors are really for.

    • Mary says:

OMG. I posted this on Facebook and said the same thing about the kid in the middle. She kind of freaked me out. I think she is hiding something in her hand . . . “Yes, tonight they will all get what they deserve.”

    • Michy says:

Wow, you read my mind on that one… The family pet not in photo due to some unpleasantness….

  3. Heather D says:

Nothibg says ‘Rules’ more than a flat top

  5. broken doll says:

It’s such a shame that teased hair on little girls went out of style…

  6. bl says:

the girl in the middle, i think she’s looking right through the photographer’s head at the pendulum axe about to swing from the ceiling

  7. pinkolina says:

  8. Amanda M says:

I think this is a great photo!

  9. Cassie C says:

Ok, it took me pretty much the entire day to figure this one out, but that dad reminds me of Jay Thomas; he was on Murphy Brown, Cheers, Letterman once in a while, now on the radio. Maybe it’s just the smile, but dang that was bugging me! He looked like someone I had seen on TV…

  10. Kelly says:

Oh my gosh, Cassie C, you’re right; that guy looks just like Jay Thomas. I had to go back and look though, I was too busy focusing on The Evil Seed in the middle.

  11. TJ says:

WHOA! This was years before they appeared on Petticoat Junction and the one sister dyed her hair dark brown. (Is it me or do they look like little wigs?)

  12. TJ says:

The little girl in the middle looks like Juliet Lewis and the outfits make me think they may have been going to audition for the VonTrap children.

  13. axon says:

The dad looks like he can’t wait to get the hell out of there

  14. Anne says:

  16. Ferrari says:

Im sorry but, BAH HAA HAA HAAAH HAAA!!!!! okay Im not sorry.

  17. Rosamund says:

I wonder if the perfectionist mom had a fit when she noticed the evil middle child’s fingers were bent and not perfectly matching the other girls. This photo scares me and makes me laugh at the same time…..I can only imagine that family at home

  18. Penny says:

oh my gosh, I remember that hairstyle, my Mom would do that same thing to my hair in elementary school…

  19. Mary says:

My mom and grandma had my hair done like that too, with matching bows on the side, LOL

  20. Luvztoread says:

OMG! So totally 60’s! I remember these types of photos from my own childhood and can’t imagine sharing them with others; how embarrassing!! LOL

  22. CarrieM says:

Aaaugh! My mom was always trying to make my hair look like that! And I wanted hair like Cher’s. Neither of us succeeded!

  25. Carol says:

OMG that is creepy on so many levels!

  26. ReginaPhalange says:

Somebody *please* tell me this pic’s from the 50s or 60s and not a recent photo made to look like it’s that old.

    What a mess o teeth….it’s the anti-Osmonds!

  38. Faith says:

The outfits are pure early 60’s..i know I had a teased bouffant hairdo like this. When I saw the poor boy’s “crew cut” and the dads white shirt and skinny black tie all I could think of was, “Houston, we have a problem.”

  39. Alex says:

Although his sisters gained modest recognition working as USO entertainers in the Korean War, Gene would eventually go on to real fame working as flight director for NASA..

  40. Katrina says:

“Which Von Trap has the Toni?”
I remember reading ‘go Ask Alice’ set in the late 60s in which the teen girl fought her mom not to have a flip. Now I see why.

  45. Lee says:

Someone goofed giving this the “70’s” tag … it has to be the 60s .. probably early-mid 60s is my guess. …they certainly did have their hair all sorted out back then.
