    The evolution of calves actually.

  2. Johnny Rainbow says:

    Nice shoes, Dad!

  3. Frank says:

“On the count pf three, everyone fart!”

  4. Joey says:

This pic is a “picture of a picture”. They used a digital camera to snap a picture of this picture (look at the flash reflection near where the window is).
This pic was COPIED in 2009, but obviously taken much earlier.

  5. DSM says:

This photo was actually taken in Ohio at our grandpa’s house. I am glad y’all are getting a good laugh. I know we all did!

  6. wordy says:

This picture could have been taken TODAY in western PA. We have jorts, stoned washed jeans, white tennis shoes with tube socks, printed polo shirts, wifebeaters, camo and an occasional mullett here and there. we are stuck in 1995. I think clothes should be sold with an expiration date, like perishables

Also the dimensional shingles on the roof are an indication this is a recent photo. Only rich homes had dimension shingles until a few years ago when the priced dropped enough for normal middle class people to afford them.

  7. A Friend says:

Hey to break it to you guys….but this picture was not taken recently. I know this family. They are now much older. And btw this was probably taken in Texas, because that is were the family is from….

  8. Kimberly says:

What if you’re at the end of this line? Do they still have your back??

  9. Nan says:

Let’s do the Time Warp again!

  10. Okfrank says:

The first known sighting of the Verizon bars.

  11. Jane says:

they look like really nice people

  12. Lauren says:

Ok, let me clear the controversy up. YES, this picture is a picture of a picture. Yes- the late 90’s was the actual date when this was taken. I was sorting through my photos and found this, and could not pass it up, definitely an awkward family photo moment. We continue to this day to be as awkward as ever, with my dad taking the brunt of it, living with 4 women. Thanks for sharing in our awkwardness!

  13. Denise says:

Clothing aside, this looks like a loving family. But I can’t decide which is funnier – when the whole family commits 100% to the awkward pose, or when at least one or two of the posers clearly have their doubts.

  14. Don says:

Cell phone reception-wise I think they are good.

  15. m says:

It also appears that affection towards family members must grow with age.

  16. Dan Brennan says:

The “remote” slightly fuzzy look of the image compared to the quality of the date makes me think someone had an older print that they copied with their camera and neglected to turn off the date feature.

  17. The kid that is loved the least always gets white shorts.

  18. MMB says:

    choo choo!

  19. carol says:

Actually, I think it’s kind of a cute family snapshot. They seem like a happy family.

  20. Tiggergirl0325 says:

Looks like the youngest may be sporting a Hannah Montana shirt. Those that don’t believe it could have been taken last year obviously live nowhere near the midwest! Proudly behind the times since….always! LOL

  21. Kurtis says:

Has anyone noticed how dad looks kind of like Jeffrey Donovan on “Burn Notice”?

  22. Tim says:

    Everybody do THE BUNNY HOP!!

  23. Tim says:

  24. kay says:

okay, this could totally be from 2009 — they’re wearing what we grimly refer to as “homeschool uniform.” jorts and a shirt — they’re unisex and fit any member or gender of the family. also, i’m pretty sure they still sell those mock-neck shirts at VF Factory Outlets in Iowa and Minnesota (the largest supplier and jorts-wearing populations west of the Mississippi), sad but true. i think you can still buy sweatshirts with the attached collar at those places, too. ooooh, and housedresses.

oh, but the real reason i’m posting, THANK GOD they’re not all facing the other way. sure, dad looks uncomfortable, but if he were behind mom i would have to gouge my eyes out.

  25. amyjodeb says:

The people who comment that they can’t believe the date must not live in the Midwest! This is a classic Midwest family! It is most definitely the correct date. The parents may have left their style back int he ’90’s when they met but it is definitely the correct date of the photo. Come on people – not everyone can dress and have the budget ofr the lates clothes from the generic Macy’s!

    • carol says:

You tell them amyjodeb, whoever you are! I was thinking the same thing. Clothes snob! In this economy, I’ll wear just about anything that covers me up. I’m not too picky.

    • lavagirl says:

Yeah,,, I am originally from Ohio, but now live in South Florida… I had to adjust to the styles down here…. so yes this definitely could have been taken months ago…

  26. Yam says:

Pappa gets outvoted on everything obviously… even on how to pose for photos!

  27. dono1 says:

No son. All girls. All the time. It’s taking a toll on dad. The slumped shoulders, the sunken chest, the “don’t let this happen to you” expression on his face… you can almost see the testosterone leaking out of him. If they lose their grip on him, I swear he’s going to make a break for it. I just don’t know how far he’ll be able to run in those shoes.

  28. DaddysSister says:

    Conjoined quintuplets!

  29. Anne says:

    Girls’s idea not mine.

  30. AwkWerrrd says:

I’m thinking photo of a photo?

Bent-knee girl is messin’ with the flow — What else is a middle-child supposed to do!?

  31. wtf says:

I can’t believe this was only last year. They should be embarassed wearing all those jorts.

  32. James says:

It might have just been developed in 2009, still might have been taken in the 90’s.

  33. bmj2k says:

Dad’s got that “I dare you to knock this chip off my shoulder” look.

  34. Natalie says:

I’m pretty sure it’s a photo of a photo – it looks like there’s a glare on the right.

  35. tivadiva says:

whats funny is the dad has the “this is not gonna turn out good” face working!!!!! lmao tooo funny!

  36. amashly says:

Maaayybe they took a picture of a picture….no scanner!

  37. G says:

It may be an old picture that someone took a new picture of… a photo of a photo perhaps? That might explain that date. I just don’t see how this could only be half a year old!

  38. smaihlee says:

  39. vi says:

    Aw, it’s cute.

  40. Erin says:

I thought this was an old picture but it’s dated 2009.

And, just out of curiosity, is that a spaceship in the garage?

Why’s he the only one still wearing shoes? And why’s he wearing those?

  41. Alan says:

The most shocking thing is the date, I assumed it was the 90’s and I guess it still is where they live.

  42. Spunky says:

…that’s not the date I was expecting to be on this picture.

  43. Janana says:

I refuse to believe people dressed like this in 2009…the tie-dye, SLEEVELESS mock turtleneck, and abundance of jean shorts have a distinct 90’s flavor.

  44. SS180Girl says:

    baby got back – ?
