this is soo awkward! she’s all dressed up, in his lap, side kiss, and the mom looks kind of concerned. bahaha..
of course, the kiss was probably just a quick peck but the magic of photography prolongs it. :)

  2. Janice Marie says:

Some people on this site need to chill. There is nothing wrong with kissing your parents on the lips. BTW – this pic is hilariously awkward. Well done.

  3. Hannah says:

its all in the head tilt

  4. Astral says:

Yeah it might have been fine, but the angle of the photo makes it look bad.

  5. Pat says:

I think the thing is that whoever took this picture is a very poor photographer! Hope they didn’t actually pay anyone to take it – they all look so uncomfortable. A child kissing a Mommy or Daddy on the lips is actually very adorable when they are young but I would not approve of child in their teens doing something like that. Oherwise, it is precious.

  6. Ken says:

    Easy up on baby Daddy!

  7. Mickey says:

This reminds me when one Christmas we all arrived at my uncles house and they were welcoming us at the door I’d just given my grandma and granddad a kiss on the lips and then my uncle was there for what he thought was a hug and a cheek peck but me on my family lip kissing streak planted a tight closed lip wet one on his, immediately after I was like sorry I was on a roll, I still have a chill every time I think about it Awkward indeed. Bahhh!

  8. Rory #2 says:

I kissed my parents on the lips when I was a kid up until I was maybe seven years old. But to this day, it weirds me the heck out when my little cousins try to kiss -me- on the lips!

  9. Soquel says:

My 3 year old daughter kisses both me and her dad on the lips.. I also kissed my dad on the lips until I was about 10 I think..
I don’t think its awkward if thats how you were raised.. I never even thought of it when I had my daughter..
but one day she went to kiss her dad and she tilted her head and I seen his face get all wierd and his eyes get all wide.. when she walked away he said it was the most awkward thing that has ever happened to him..she was only 2, so nothing, of course, was meant..
The head tilt is what deffinately makes this awkward..

  10. Shay says:

As everyone has stated, it is the head tilt that makes this photo awkward. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with kissing a parent on the lips, that’s why they call em’ “granny-kiss” or “granny-peck”. I just hope the photographer snapped it right away.

  11. keil says:

i just think everything about this is funny. the kiss is innocent yet awkward enough to laugh at. the head tilts make the passion seem real hahah. the father’s clenched fist makes it seem uncomfortable. and who could forget the mother’s face? she looks concerned yet forgiving. also id like to bring to the table the question of why everyone is in casual wear except for the little girl?! its a family portrait correct? so why is it that the mother & affectionate father are dressed down.

  12. Ryane says:

Well at 32 I still give my Dad a kiss when I see him. We live 1100 miles apart so it’s not that often but I wouldn’t want to be pictured doing it!! The half a second peck would definitely look much longer and who knows maybe even romantic on a picture. Isn’t that how the paparazzi and gossip magazines get their stories? LOL I’ll always be Daddy’s Little Girl!

  13. Voltron says:

“Okay…okay honey? That’s enough now. Sweetie? You can stop now. That’ll do” Sweetie?…:)

  14. Yo says:

lol nah. the mom looks lke she’s trying to pull the girl away. too much lovin.

  15. Melissa says:

    Hahahaha. “That’ll do.”

  16. Gabe says:

His hand is clenched in a fist on the ground. This is not sweet or loving, except for the mother’s approving touch, which totally doesn’t fit the rest of the picture. Ew.

  17. cowboyneok says:

This photo IS the definition of…. AWKWARD!

I say this one has won the trophy so far. (We have to remember, folks. The people who sent in this photo AGREE that the photo is AWKWARD)

No other word describes this photo. Mom and Dad are even embarrassed how this photo came out or they wouldn’t have sent it in…

  18. Randy says:

I agree, the reason it looks awkward is because the picture looks like the kiss went on much longer than it surely did.

    • Lubs says:

Hahahaha, I don’t know why but that comment made the picture even funnier, because that’s EXACTLY the explanation I was looking for. I wish that was the caption

  19. Jeff says:

The kiss doesn’t make this picture awkward. The clothing does. The little girl looks like she was the flower girl at a wedding. Very cute. But Mom and Dad look like they’re honoring Casual Day at the office or something. And what’s with that teeny tiny blanket they’re squeezed onto, anyway?

  20. TDoc72 says:

What I find more awkward than the kiss (which was probably a nano-second long, but the pic makes it look longer) is that the little girl is all dressed up in her Sunday best, but her folks are just hanging out in their jeans.

  21. celeste says:

Ewww, this is really awkward. It’s always awkward for me to see a parent kiss a child on the lips.

  22. stepstranger says:

so many times, it’s the CAPTIONS that make me laugh out loud. I’ve been walking around saying “That’ll do…” in a disapproving tone for days now. It’s comparable to when my nana murmurs,” Say…..”

  23. Desiree says:

I don’t think the little girl kissing daddy is so awkward its how the photo is set up that makes it look awkward.

  24. Elisa says:

Let’s all agree that it is perfectly fine to kiss parents in the lips if this is a practice in your family. Let’s also agree that the picture pose and set up are very awkward- I would dare to say that if this pic was given to one hundred people to be rated, more people would rate it as “Awkard” vs “Not awkward”

  25. Jeff says:

The kiss isn’t awkward – but the head-tilt is? Sheesh.

  26. Elizabeth says:

I have a four-year old and he went through a phase where he wanted to kiss everyone on the lips because he saw Mommy and Daddy kiss on the lips. In my family, only married couples kiss on the lips, so we just explained to him that only Mommies and Daddies kiss each other on the lips, everyone else kisses each other on the cheek. He now only kisses on the cheek.

I know plenty of people who were raised to be comfortable with kissing on the lips, and I think it’s only awkward if you aren’t comfortable with it.

Oh, and this photo is only awkward because of the head tilt. I agree with the one lady that says that her child flings herself toward the person she’s giving the kiss to. My son does the same thing. :D
