The only way to truly know if he’s still there.

It’s the only way they could get him to smile.
My mother in law is doing the same thing in our pictures too, just not quite so obviously. I think the idea was she was reaching out so as to be holding his hand in the picture. Only problem in our case was that my father in law did reach to hold her hand however hers was still in the same place at a very awkward location from the perspective of the photo.
@ Vickie –
Want her to take it down? If you have the guts, during a big family gathering, go up to it and make a BIG fuss over it. Oh, I love this picture, it’s sooo sweet of you to hang my wedding picture here, blah blah blah! Go on for like 5 minutes — then give a huge dramatic pause, and as if you had never noticed it before, say, in a loud whisper, Oh! Um, did you realize your hand looks like…um, hmmm. Then stare at her funny. Pause, then walk away.
She will take it down within 2 weeks.
Or if not, at least you’ve mocked her to her face and there’s nothing she can do about it! Karma is sweet. ; )
I can’t believe I am seeing this again…..In my own wedding pictures, my MIL is doing the EXACT same thing to my FIL. To make matters worse, she thought it would be a good idea to have a large (20×28) version made to hang up in her living room….I avoid looking at it when I go over, but thank God it’s not in my house.
watch where u put that hand lady! lol
Ok, this brings up a topic that has always mistified my male friends and I. Why do women’s arms go past “straight” to like 5 or 10 degrees past? I can’t think of any evolutionary reason.
If the straight can’t move 5 or 10 degrees….(yawn)
It helps in carrying babies.
Okay, so I made that up.
Normie that is actually true a woman’s arm has a bend in it that most men don’t have! If you have a man hold out his arms and you do the same you can usually see the difference unless his arm was broken at some point.
“Just checking the zoom on the camera, darling”
Looks like someone else wants to get the honeymoon started!
Good grief, all I can look at is that ENORMOUS train! How much surplus material does one woman need?!
The more I look at this, the more familar that woman looks – can we please have a back story of where this was taken?
Maybe this is RECIPRICOL friskieness. We do not see where his hand has wandered.
Actually to me it looks like her dress is about to slip off and she’s got her arm out to hold it on for 10 more seconds. So which is more awkward – a reach and grab or a wardrobe malfunction?
Possibly off point, but is that a casket behind them on the right?
I don’t understand why the bride was so hateful as to turn her bridesmaids into a segment of US Weekly’s “Who Wore it Better?”
Quick! She needs change.
He was MORE than happy to pose for this pix.
I want to know what those two people behind the screen are doing.
Pay no attention to the men behind the screen… (WoO)
That really is a camera lens in your pocket!
Not to shift attention from the star, but why is the shortest girl wearing flats? Okay, we get it…you’re petite.
Well duh, why do you think she’s the shortest??
Seems a little casual, doesn’t it? I was thinking the girl on the right is probably wishing the bride had picked a dress that didn’t make her look like a square dancer.
Wedding formal flippy floppies are SO last year….
This looks like an informal wedding snapshot. My call is this was something a guest took at the reception and that some members of the bridal party had changed into more comfortable shoes by then.
Maybe he’s prone to wandering off like a toddler. She’s trying to get him to stand still for a moment so the photographer can get a pictuer.
A little to the left, honey.
beat me to it! LOL
yep, she’s a little off center there.
Maybe she didn’t miss, and that’s why they are BOTH smiling!
Is she pushing him back so she can get more of the limelight? Is she trying to hog the attention? This is awkward gold.
Or is he her awkward date for the wedding and she is making sure he is back far enough so she can later crop him out of the shot.
But so true sometimes…we really regret the placement of individuals on a great family photo at a wedding. It is now useless for display because my lousy cheating ex-brother in law is right in the middle of it. haha
“Ta-Da!” Guess who wanted to be the star of the photo?
“Bride, heck, everybody look at me!”
I think you nailed it.
I agree! 10 bucks says she’s a step-mother.
so so true.
This is hilarious. Look at his face! He can only think of one reason why she’d be reaching for his lap and he’s fine with it!
Maybe he’s in the process of turning slightly to the right in order to make the most of the situation.
“Pictures first…then cocktails, honey.”
It is a very nuptial pose – you know, “to have and to hold. . .” she was just getting into the spirit of the day!
Ha, ha! Looks like she’s holding him back, like you might do with a child!
Grampa Penn was known to attack the paparazzi
Awkward yes, but that smile tells me the fella doesn’t seem to mind.
“mother of the bride, meet father of the groom.”
“the pleasure’s mine.”
“And so is the pain.”
LOL. He seems not to mind, though.
She seems like the controlling type. “stay back, out of my view… this mother of the bride dress cost nearly a grand!”
Money-clip still there, Hon? Whew, great. Ok, where were we?
The only way to truly know if he’s still there… or still ALL there!?!?
She’s CLEARLY been in show choir – that’s a classic jazz hand if ever I saw one!
