A Spoonful - Behind The Awkwardness

“This is me back in 93 at the Brantford Skating Carnival. The show was beauty and the beast, and i was a piece of cutlery (a spoon). I had to wear a horrible white unitard, and everyone said i looked like a toilet seat. The worst part is when we were on the ice, it glowed in the dark!”

Adorable kid. But the costume – definitely awkward!

At least you are really selling it with that cool pose. ;-)

I have worn WAY worse for ballet concerts and theatre productions. Incidentally my most horrible costumes were for B&B too (I played Chip for ballet costume was turquoise unitard with some horrible sequined embellishment on the front and the they made a cup and saucer and stuck it on my head… I still don’t get it!)
I think I refused to have photos taken. I’ve not had the misfortune of seeing any!
Anyways, I think you look adorable :)

  4. Jadeybee says:

Oh you poor thing! I hope the proceeds from that production went toward therapy to heal the trauma of the cutlery.

This is hilarious! I remember working backstage for beauty and the beast the summer of 2012. My youth camp had gotten back from camp and i had a foot infection that made my foot swell twice its size. Imagine working two plays on that! luckily our cutlery wasn’t dressed like that but i felt bad for the teacups, who were five-year-old boys toting around heavy costumes xD. ahhhh… memories!

  6. Dre says:

Man…trust Brantford to see someone dressed up as a spoon. LOL. Classic. Funny picture!

  13. If they had just put matching white make-up on you, you’d have looked like a spoon… instead of a toilet seat.

  14. Kym says:

In an ice show I did i was an apple in the wizard of oz. I feel your pain girl

  15. Lance says:

Yep, exactly like a toilette seat. Untill you go through anatomy.

  19. flinch says:

I ALSO played a spoon in my school’s production of Beauty and the Beast, and I can tell you that there is no way to dress a child up as a white spoon and not have them look like a toilet seat.

  20. Katie says:

LMAO I was in this number! But I was a napkin, I had a huge skirt that was attached to my fingers. I remember feeling sorry for the cutlery…. I believe the same year I also played a prostitute …or maybe that was the year before
