Behind the Awkwardness: The Delicates
December 1st, 2010
“I remember very little of my childhood. It is a pretty much a blur and this might be why… here I am @3yrs napping in the dryer. I am told that sneaking a nap in the dryer while the clothing was still hot was a tradition of mine…I’m just glad my foot was poking out, notifying everyone NOT to shut the door.”

Love this! How cute.
That looks shockingly like me as a kid. Maybe Nette and I are related
Umm my gf in HS had a cat that liked to do this too. He should have learned to stick his foot out.. YIKES
Hahaha, I used to do this, too!
Too cute! I remember when I was little getting in the dryer after it was done and handing the clothes to my grandma.
This is adorable!
Adorable. My youngest daughter, now 20, used to do exactly the same thing when she was 2. As soon as she heard the dryer turn off she would run over open it and climb in and suck her finger, would usually fall asleep too.
What the world needs is bigger dryers. We’d all feel better if we could spend an hour a day doing this.
Wow, people should NOT be letting their kids play in the dryer.. or pets… are you people insane? That has to be one of the most dangerous places for a child or pet to go into. Lunacy… =.=
So cute–I have a picture of my dog doing the same thing.
My three year old loves playing in the dryer. I have never found him asleep in there, but I frequently find my one year old squealing with glee as her brother plays and tries to spin himself in the dryer.
My daughter’s babysitter used to time the laundry/naptime to coinside. She would always drape a warm towel over Kristen as she laid down to sleep. She is 22 now and it’s still her favorite memory.
Her favorite tune later in life, “I’ll tumble for ya”-(Boy George)
Did she remember the dryer sheets?
The dryer was my favorite hiding place for hide-and-go-seek. It worked every time.
haha! one of my favorite childhood memories was when we would play hide-and-seek and my 40 some year old AUNT would hide in the drier…lol! priceless! although it can be dangerous…we did dry a cat for a few seconds once…he had snuck under the clothes…gotta check those things out before you start drying! haha
Maybe you secretly wish you had been born a cat. I wonder if laundry baskets had the same allure.
such a cute pic–Im glad you shared it with the rest of us.
looks like you havent a care in the whole world!!
Nope, no awkwardness here.
Maybe the awkwardness is that her shoes are on the wrong feet.
Not in the picture I’m looking at.
Not in the picture I am looking at, either.
Awww! That’s so cute.
we lost a cat in the same way. now that was awkward, having to rewash those sheets.
BAAAHAHAHAHA!
FTW!
this is THE cutest pic i have ever seen on here!
Not awkward. Awkward would be with the door closed and the clothes tumbling.
How is this awkward?
I wish I could still do that.
Now if you did… that would be an awkward photo. I’d love to see that one!
haha I will work on it
That is TOO freaking cute!!
yea it is!
Gah! Adorable!
Awkward in that my claustrophobia is going into overdrive; not awkward in that it seems so warm and soothing; awkward in that she’s topless, but wearing her Easter shoes.
At least you have your church shoes on…with NO shirt!
This is so cute! I have a little toddler nudist at home – she is always making up the weirdest ensembles for her self like this one. Easter shoes are a must!
Aww – that’s not awkward – that’s just a precious picture! What a cutie!
Thats exactly what I was thinking.
I completely agree!! Glad it shared
