Swan Lake - Behind The Awkwardness

“This is a picture of me and my husband on our wedding day (obviously). We were posing for the photographer and this swan goes after my bouquet! The timing was just right and the photog captured the swan right as it went for it.”

The optical illusion makes it look like it’s taking a nip at .. well.. a nip.

  2. Missatastic says:

    Her face is PRICELESS.

  3. Jimbo says:

Aww, how cute….is that what you and the hubby call them……your “bouquet”?

  4. Petros says:

I know I am late to the party, but here goes:

The first attempt to de-flower Betsy that evening…

OMG that picture is hilarious! Flashback to 1972, I was 6, we (parents and I) were at a dairy farm in Yellow Springs, Ohio, I was feeding bread to the baby ducks when out of nowhere this Swan appears and attacks me! The s.o.b. chased me all the way to the car, and once I was safely inside, tried to peck the damn car to death!! My Dad never did get all the dents out…

Looks more like its headed for her boob-quet. Hahahaha

  7. AndrewT says:

    Leda? Is that you?

  8. carol says:

I thought the swan had a crush on the bride until I read the description.

  9. Samantha says:

Never take wedding photos around waterfowl. Bad things will happen and they are always caught on film.

  10. Jenna says:

I get that the leaves and the water are kind of nice, but the wire fence and rusty barn , the roof of a dog house, and what appears to be litter along the edge of the grass just doesn’t scream perfect wedding photo-shoot setting to me…
10.0 on that reach by the swan, though.

    • Me says:

Thanks for your awkward input, Little Miss Perfect.

    • Tishes says:

I agree. That rusty thing is a water container or something, and there’s what looks like a vent of an air-conditioning unit in front of the barn. All appropriately awkward for this site.

    • Mifty says:

Perhaps this nice couple cared more about memorializing their wedding and the very pretty place it was held than they did about having every silly detail “perfect.” If this woman were that sort of princess type, she’d be hiding this picture away and maybe suing the photographer (or the swan) instead of sharing it here.

    • schoolnurse says:

The frame could also be cropped to omit a lot of the clutter and just leave the “rustic” wire fence, swans, weathered siding on the large building and of course the happy couple. Or not. Regardless this is a gem!

  11. Tim says:

Bride to Groom: Honest darling, I’ve never seen that swan before … well, maybe we did meet once but that was a long time ago, before I even knew you. I was young, and we both found ourselves in Cancun, lonely … you know how it is. It doesn’t mean anything to me, not anymore. I don’t know how he found out about the wedding. You do know that you’re the only one for me – man or swan – don’t you, darling?

  12. Tim S says:

A chicken wouldn’t do, it would only cluck!

  13. Joey says:

I love the look on your face! Kudos to the tog! Awkward, yet classic!

  14. Rosieposie says:

    LOVE the expressions!!

  15. Linda says:

glad she pointed out that the swan was going for the bouquet, cuz that’s not where its beak is in the photo.

  16. G-man says:

    Stop looking at me swan!

  17. Dawn says:

    Was that in Mystic,CT?

  18. Nectarine says:

From the position of the beak, I thought the bride was getting goosed…not the bouquet!

  19. Melissa says:

The expressions on your faces are priceless, but… *shudder* Swans are nasty tempered creatures. I wouldn’t get that close to one withut a gun or a baseball bat.

  20. JerseyPam says:

That swan should be weaned by now.

  21. Merv says:

You’re just mad that the swan beat your bridesmaids to the bouquet.

  22. astrid says:

GOOD HEAVEN this is such a natural normal reaction of you both. But the rest is sooooooooooooooooooo unlike all other days of our/youre live. A BESTSELLER. sel it make a fortune of it!
