Burning Down The House - Kids

“Photo of me and my two other siblings when we donated a house on some property my parents bought to the fire department. My parents thought it would be a good memory to have and had us pose smiling in front of a burning house, little did they know the picture was extremely ironic.”

  4. Anonymous says:

    Definitely ‘shopped. SNORE

  5. wanderlust says:

    no, seriously, what’s the story?

  6. cookie says:

This is a controlled burn. Fire Departments do them all the time, including mine. See the hose in the fireground. AND the roof has been ventilated PRIOR to the fire being set. That is why it’s burning in a pattern on the roof, spaced apart carefully. Fires don’t burn holes in the roof that nicely, LOL. And there is also no water ON the fire yet. So, yes, looks very much like a controlled burn. I must say though, we would never let anyone, let alone kids get that close to any burn let alone a controlled one. Things can still go very wrong and they would be in the way of hose lines, and firefighters. Not safe. But fun to watch!

It’s bring your kids to work day (daddy is a fireman)

  8. Kylie says:

Sure, they saved the camera, but not the dog.

  9. Seek Geo says:

Obviously, this picture is photoshopped cuz look at kids, they are fake.

  10. Clint says:

Hm. The “Firestarter” remake doesn’t look quite as cool as I thought it was going to…

  11. Dibba says:

Squinting at this photo without my glasses, but is that a pile of firewood in front of the house?

  12. Alan says:

“OK kids! I can’t quite get you all in the picture…… take a few steps backwards……. that’s right, move back…… move back………. back a little more! Ouch!!!

  13. chiefscribe says:

While our folks were in Myrtle Beach for their anniversary, we thought we’d prepare a little surprise for them.

  14. Harry says:

Me again. I really doubt a controlled burn would be done on a house so close to those huge trees. Something doesn’t make sense her.

  15. Harry says:

Those “flames” look very strange. Not real at all. And by the way, when a fire dept. does a controlled burn, children ARE NOT allowed to be that close. Just looks fake.

    • Kim says:

There is a fire hose in the foreground though.

    • Rhonda says:

the flames look perfectly fine—-you can search thousands of images of controlled burn, fire training….and find similar images; as for the kids, it would really depend on whose running the show as to whether or not to allow civilians, especially children, that close.

  16. TheMystical says:

Came here to check comments about the roof on fire, was not disappointed, will buy again A+++

  17. jen says:

I think the kids are in front of the house.. but it’s the fire that looks fake. Very fake.

    • courtney says:

Ditto… several people commented why you could clearly tell that the kids are standing there… but the fire totally looks off to me too.
I don’t doubt all of you with stories about controlled burns for demolition, firefighter training and google image search that shows similar photos, but the fire, especially coming out of the garage roof doesn’t look at all realistic to me.

  18. smabo says:

That house is not on fire. The proper lexicon in the real estate business is to say that it’s “Seller Motivated.”

  19. Ducky says:

“Well, there go the family photo albums! Better start again as soon as possible!”

  20. Anthony O'Neill says:

“This is our house. And we set it on fire!!”

  21. Heather says:

  22. MonkeysMomma says:

Mom always said you knew dinner was done when the smoke alarm went off.

  23. Joe says:

I actually had something like this happen at my house. Something sparked a big fire in our house, and we happen to live in a vacation town. Tourists thought it was a HIL-AR-IOUS photo op, to have their picture taken in front of a burning home. All while we sat hopeless across the street watching.

  24. All their old awkward family photos were probably burning up in the house, so Mom & Dad wanted to start right away on taking some new ones. THAT’S dedication to awkward family photography if I ever saw it!

  25. king Missle says:

Hey everybody, its the 1st annual weiner roast! Someone go get Anthony!

  26. Lynn says:

    Do you smell cookies??

  27. sallypants says:

Our neighbors had a “controlled” burn down of their a-frame cabin years ago, where the fire department was there. We have a bunch of photos of the whole thing. I’d like to think maybe this was a really on purpose kind of photo??!?!?

    • Kari says:

There was one by us about ten years ago. And everyone took pictures

    • hushupp says:

Yep, Sally, I am pretty sure to think this is “practice” for the fire department. The kids are old enough to have a completely different look on their faces (horror, shock, terror) if it were truly their house . They just look much too relaxed. Now I am waiting for someone to use the dreaded term ‘photoshopped”. lol

  28. Carol says:

Looks like a firehouse practice fire. I’ve seen a few of these, where an old building slated for demolition gets torched so the local fire crew can practice putting it out. The large hose on the left is something of a giveaway… My guess is daddy is a fireman. Cute shot!

  29. Anna D. says:

Shew…at least they got the camera out!

  30. Sheri says:

I don’t think it’s photoshop. You can see the shadows behind the girls and they’re going the right way – and even when I zoom in really close, I don’t see any pixellated edges. I’d like to know what’s going on here, though. Maybe fire practice?

  31. Lily says:

This is phunny – good photoshop job! 🙂

  32. Meghan says:

Reminds me of the picture of me and my siblings in front of a tornado… (if I can find it, it’s totally being uploaded here!)

  33. steven murray says:

“the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
    we don’t need no water,
    let the mother f*cker burn,
    burn mother f*cker, burn”
    the bloodhound gang

  34. JP says:

It’s real people. Fire departments burn down donated vacant houses for training… see the fire department hose on the bottom left of the pic?

  35. Tim S says:

Hey, a photo op is a photo op. I’m surprised there aren’t a couple politicians standing there with them.

  36. JS says:

That goofy Nero family from down the block … they’re always just fiddling around!

  37. Mimi says:

What the heck????? “ok, kids go stand in front of our burning house so I can send a picture to Grandma” (and don’t forget to smile)

  38. Ann says:

Hey, does anyone else smell smoke?

  39. Mary says:

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!

  40. Tina says:

And if I do something bad…will you still love me?

  41. Biff Burns says:

I guess you could say bad Photoshop work is awkward.

  42. another Mike says:

    glad I wasn’t there!

  43. Carolyn says:

Is the girl on the left holding a leash? Where’s the dog?!

  44. Cookie says:

Honey the house is burning!! Get the camera so we can take a picture of the kids…Ok kids smile for the photo. Say cheeseeeeeeeeeeee

  45. amy says:

The roof, the roof, the roof is on FIRE

  46. Cindy says:

    This looks made up.

  47. Christina says:

    It almost looks fake…

  48. Henri says:

    Is’nt this photoshopped?

  49. rachel says:

Well I hope to hell SOMEONE brought the marshmallows and wieners!
