Size Doesn’t Matter

“Everything old is new again.” Aren’t those furry things on the bridesmaids heads what we now call “fascinators”, the height of fashion thanks to Princess Kate? See how fashion-forward this bride really was!
I think this is rather typical of wedding pictures of that era. Be it powder blue tuxes or red satin flounces, they were allllll over the top and do not age well!
Where can I get ME a stuffed pink pigdog?
HA!
The REAL question, I think, is why are they SMILING??
Obviously the bride DID convince the maids that “after the wedding you’ll be able to wear this dress to other formal occasions easily . . . “
The reason why the husband isn’t on the photo is that, when he saw that, he decided to escape far (I suppose).
Please tell me this was a 1970′s contest entry for Most Amazing Use of Maribou Boas. Or MagicSatin. Or Aquanet. (the dog and penguin would have been the corporate mascot?)
After seeing this trainwreck, anyone have enough morbid curiosity to see what the groom and his groomsmen were wearing on this joyous occasion?
Santa suits, of course
would you be the least bit surprised to find out this was even a summer wedding?
The absolute worst part is these girls had to pay for their dresses. I’d be beating me some bride if that was what my money paid for.
one of the rare times when you don’t even notice the bride. except to question her sanity and taste.
OK, so which one “designed & made” all the dresses & accessories? No one could buy this look from a bridal store – anytime, anywhere…. Looks like a bad McCall’s Pattern too – def not a Vogue pattern.
The penguin and the poodle were a perfect distraction, nobody noticed the velvet painting in the background. Classic.
What about the velvet painting in the background? A perfect backdrop
I don’t understand all the criticism – back in the day this was quite…. naaahhhh, it’s still overkill!
OMG !!!!!! WOW i’d be killing me a bride is all I have to say !
I wonder why there is a pink poodle in the picture?
$20.00 bucks says those ladies thought they were fly… and I see a lot of people asking about the stuffed animals my only answer is… maybe the lucky groom won them at the fair for her on their first date because am I the only one who thinks you couldn’t buy those stuffed animals anywhere… they are the perfect fair toy, you know the kind with sand paper fur and feel like they are full of sawdust and ushually have old gum caked in their fur… yeah one of those kinda stuffed animals the real classy ones:)
Thats quite an ensemble. The gal on the far right has so much hair, her head looks like it’s too heavy to hold up. I wonder if this bride is still married.
I am truly lost for words.
I honestly am lost for words. And those who know me know that is almost impossible.
Is the penguin the groom? I mean he’s wearing a tux.
I just can’t get my eyes off the hair. Oh the hair!
How many Clairol electric hair curler sets does it take to create 5 “cascade” hairdo’s?
And none of them ever spoke to the bride again. EVER.
Whoa — “fascinators” that do not fascinate.
…and the penguin and poodle are the perfect finishing touches!
OH……MY…….GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s with the penguin and the poodle??
Land of the misfit toys… and their misfit makers??
For balance, of course!
Fur out!!!
Is that Nellie Oleson in the pink dress?
Why?! Why!? Why!? Why?! (these are said with true anguish…)
Oh the humanity!!!!
I especially love the added classy touch of the pink poodle and the penguin. I wonder if he’s supposed to represent the groom. Because he doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of her “color palette”. Not as well as the poodle does anyway.
Why?! Why?! Why?! Why?!
Oh my gracious. The dresses! The headpieces! The pink poodle in the corner! It’s outrageously perfect!!
Now, those are bridesmaid dresses that can be worn just about anywhere again!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
But if you shorten them, you can wear them any time!
Were the poodle and the penguin Honor Attendants?
Oh my! Even the glare from those purple dresses cannot distract your eyes from their hair and those furry things on top.
plushy toys! FTW!
also – that’s some seriously high hair over on the right.
Photographer: Whats this photo missing? Yep a penguin and a pink poodle…
hmmm….you know how there are some brides that are just spiteful and mean about the bridesmaids dresses? And those rare women that ACTUALLY believe these dresses are beautiful. I think this may be one of vengeful ones. Look at how happy she is, and the one on the far right is shooting her daggers.
I will forgive a lot of fashion fauxes pas when it comes to bridesmaids. But the stuffed penguin and poodle?
Gives new meaning to why the grapes were wrathful. :/
Haha!
LOL! I’m just betting the groom (the REAL groom, not Tennessee Tuxedo there) was wearing a purple tux with pink ruffled shirt and gigantic butterfly bowtie. Sharp!
Love the jaunty angle of the girl on the right’s hat! She’s just looking at the bride thinking, “yeah, you can make me wear this, this, this… thing! But, damn it, you can’t take the sky from me!”
I don’t think I know these trendy ladies, but that pink poodle in the corner…..
It’s like a Who-ville wedding…
There are so many things I could say… but I am really most struck by the seemingly strategic placement of the two stuffed animals. Hmmm…
WTF is the only thing that comes to mind.
And so what role do the stuffed penguin and poodle play?? (I’m really into alliteration…)
What is up with the hair of the two ladies on the right and the girl in the pink dress? There just aren’t words for this level of awkwardness!!
where does a person even start? The dresses? The hats? The muffs? The stuffed animal props? I am overwhelmed.
Every Bridesmaids wort nightmare!
