Embassy Suites Awkward Vacation Contest Winner

Well, after more than a thousand submissions and over fifty thousand votes in our biggest contest ever, we finally have a winner! A big congratulations goes out to the Larson family for their amazingly awkward photo that proves wearing those matching bucket-hats, short-shorts, and tube socks was totally worth it. They now receive the ultimate prize from Embassy Suites:
- 14 nights at either the Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk, Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe Hotel & Ski Resort, or Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort
- $15,000 to cover airfare and expenses

“Summer at the lake” is hilarious! But after looking closer i think it’s Photoshopped. Look at the top of the goth chick’s hair… notice the slight white glow? I’m guessing her pic originally had a white background and that white glow is from cropping it out using a ‘feather’ effect, which left some of the original white background. Still hilarious regardless…

hooooo my gosh would you PLEASE post “Summer at the Lake” on its own AFF page so I can “like” it on facebook? I am aching with laughter. I want a “Behind the Awkward” on that one!! I love her!!!
Isn’t the Larson family the same short-shorts and tube-sock wearing family that is shown standing by a “Welcome to South Dakota” sign in another awkward photo? If so, I believe that they deserve to win “The Most Awkward Family of All Time” award!
That was my thought, too. I recognized the kid on the right from the older photo because I looked just like him at that age.

Is that ‘Close Encounters’ one a legitimate entry? I’ve seen that photo on various other sites for a couple of years now.
