Happy Labor Day from AFP! - Behind The Awkwardness

“I worked at a cub scout camp that had a theme of Star Wars. Some of my co-workers and I had a picture taken together. The older guy is a falconer, and we used the raven at camp a lot. To me, this picture makes so much sense, but to anybody else, there are three teenagers surrounding an older man holding a raven, and we’re all dressed as Jedi. Weird.”

I work with the guy second from the right!

  2. Flink says:

I know this guy with the raven. How crazy is that, there are 6 billion people on earth and I know the guy with the raven. His name I think is Ben

  3. graphicartist2k5 says:

the bird’s the one the most confused in this picture, i’d say!

  4. Sarah says:

I seem to remember you wearing this in high school too… Dude! Jeff! This picture is epic!

  5. jonny says:

so…where are the jedi camps for adults?

  6. Katie says:

Makes perfect sense to me! Sounds like an awesome camp.

  7. Cindy says:

    Ravens are AWESOME!

  8. taterhead says:

Raven / Falcon? Don’t know. Is it tasty? Prefer turkey or chicken for some reason

  9. taterhead says:

After reading the story again, I am going to say the the young gent on the right is the older one due to hand position of holding the falcon. If I am wrong, please correct me.

  10. Thaniel says:

According to this picture, he’s a “ravener,” not a “falconer.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that. 🙂

  11. MSS says:

I love how explaining the all the elements in the picture make it “make sense.” Because nothing makes more sense than having a Falconer dressed up as a Jedi at a Cub Scout camp. Love it.

  12. Lisa Shafer says:

My first thought (before reading the explanation) was actually “Lady Hawk!!”

  13. CarrieM says:

Wow. My first Toyota was smaller than that bird.

  14. Erin says:

I believe this falconeer works at my local museum and gives free bird shows during our city celebration. He does a great job!!!

  15. Juno says:

Oh Donald…. you will be the Falcon… and I will remain…. The Falconer!

Darth Raven…. the bane of my existence!!!

  18. Tom Flapwell says:

Must have something to do with the Millennium Falcon.

  19. Carolyn says:

An “older man”???? They all look like teenagers! 🙂

    • taterhead says:

I too, was wondering which one was the oldest! Please specify who is the leader of this group!

      • ScoutC says:

We must be “of a certain age;” I , too, had to look twice to see an “older man.” I am assuming it is the one with the facial hair. He does look older than the other three lads but not as old as the raven.

        • taterhead says:

Toss-up between the two in the center! @ ScoutC- Assume nothing!!! I still am wondering who is the oldest. Facial hair doesnt really mean anything. If the one with no facial is the oldest, it just means he shaves, or can’t grow a decent crop of facial hair.

          • taterhead says:

also @ ScoutC-I am a person of a certain age. Not really proud of it or asshamed of it. Just a fact. Can we laugh together now? HHHAAAAAAAHHHAAAA! Weeeoooo! Snort Snort Snort!!

When asked if they would ever pose for a picture like this again, they quoted Edger Allen Poe by saying, “Never More”. LOL
