heheh…both my mom and I may have been mortified if even my recital costumes at ages 5/6 had come to that… (rainbow 2 piece costume we wore one year had pants…looked like some sort of “rocker Barbie” thing, similar to a boys costume on this site, but with pink instead of yellow)
The shadow on her left eye from her bow and the gap in her smile make it look like she’s wearing “I got into a fight” makeup. Maybe she’s the towel girl at a boxing match.
Awww, that is so cute! Reminds me of my dance days in the 1990s, and having to wear all that makeup. Brings back too many good memories…not awkward at all!
more than likely, she was in a dance number for some sort of bath or shower themed song.. which is just silly. Maybe it was Splishin’ & a Splashin’ lol
The full face of make up is because this is clearly for a dance recital. My parents were staunchly anti-make up for anyone younger than a teenager but I still wore a full face for my dance recitals.
It’s stage makeup. You wear a lot of makeup on stage regardless of age or gender. And the costume is supposed to look like a bathing suit. She probably danced to a beach-themed song where the towel was part of the routine.

I guess i’m the only one to notice that the towel is photoshopped! It doesn’t even look right!
Pretty sure it’s not photoshopped…
almost positive it is not photoshopped…you can see a sliver of a shadow on the inner left of her arm like the towel would leave
Could be worse. She could be a teenager, wearing the towel, and holding the swim suit.
Maybe she was gonna wash that man right out of her hair.
Ha! Hysterical
Am I the only one who noticed the legs?
I’d noticed she HAD legs. Is this what you meant?

Is she supposed to be a bathing beauty — like in a Busby-Berkley musical?

What is with that towel? What is that supposed to represent???
Her costume is a swimsuit.

Now, there’s a frood(ette?) who really knows where her towel is!
WTF!
Awsome….
The towel is weird, but I think I am more disturbed my the full face of make-up and skimpy outfit on such a young child. JMO.
The full face of make up is because this is clearly for a dance recital. My parents were staunchly anti-make up for anyone younger than a teenager but I still wore a full face for my dance recitals.
But with no dance shoes this looks more like a swim suit than a dance costume. Is she getting ready to go swimming?
Lots of dance forms don’t involve dance shoes.
Yeah, my bet is pageants, not dance.

The signs of a true champion, letting the opposition know she is assured of victory once they THROW IN THE TOWEL!
That will be enough of that…
When it became unPC to have a lawn jockey, this family enlisted the youngest child to be the substitute
If that’s what the ladies room attendants look like, I hate to see what’s in the men’s room. What kind of a country club is this?
You win the thread.
When she grew up, she worked on “Toddlers and Tiaras.”
I guess white goes with every outfit.
That poor child!
