  1. OK, here’s the back story. (I’m the gal in the photo.) I’m a garden photojournalist and author whose niche is succulent plants, which include cactus. (I’ve written two books, Designing with Succulents, and Succulent Container Gardens). I visited the nursery of a friend of mine who had this cactus couch. We were messing around, taking goofy photos, and I kinda liked this one. It’s an attention-grabber. I’ve used it as my avatar and on my website.

And Liz, thank you for saying I’m cute as the dickens!

“I don’t always lean on cactus plants, but when I do, I make sure to do an arm shelf pose.”

She also sleeps on a bed of nails.

  8. Michael says:

“Yes, I always relax by leaning on the cactus plants. Why?”

  9. Liz says:

She’s cute as the dickens…but oh my gosh who picked the fake cacti props, much less the way she’s sprawled out against the needles? AWKWARD! She just doesn’t look right in that kind of fakey sprawled out look. Probably was forced into it by the photographer trying to make her fit into his idea of “picturehood”,vs. what looked best on her. I’d love to hear what she really was thinking!

Yeah, resting on cacti, wearing an awkward butterfly shirt and an ‘in the air’ armshelf. I think I had this photo taken once
