I adore that the dad looks like a willing participant. So many family photos have a grumpy, mean looking dad. This guy looks happy to spend the day with his family. A+ for him.
I agree with everyone – it’s cheesy becasue it’s the 70′s/early 80′s with a cheesy background but they look like a lovely happy family. I could totally be that girl too!
My take was similar… they are kind of sweet looking; yes, the background is fakey looking, but so what. Their smiles look genuine. Not awkward at all compared to some the gems I’ve seen in here.

They look sweetly goofy. That’s a total compliment. In my early 80′s family portrait we all just looked mean and goofy.

Awww… they actually all look very sweet. I do remember a similar backdrop from cheezy senior pictures, though. Wait, is that a garden shed??
