In the South, there are 2 types of hair: big and bigger!

  5. Elizabeth says:

Even with the wild “do”, she’s cute as can be! In the 60’s, in my neighborhood there was a lady on the next block, who sported such a hairstyle. No one knew her, but we called her “Mrs Beehive”; but no one meant it unkindly. That’s just what she was known as due to the style. She also used copious amts of “QT”; that fake tanning product that turned people orange. Needless to say, she was quite memorable.

I remember QT. My mom had a bottle. I was about 9, and thought I could use some without anyone being the wiser. Man, that stuff really stained the knees and heels.

She loves it! I wonder how it was done.

    • Les says:

The hair is teased then glued into shape with lots and lots of hairspray. I had my hair done this way back in the ’60s when I was a flower girl in a wedding. I remember how much it hurt as the stylist grabbed and pulled on my hair while she used a fine toothed metal comb to push the stands up.

  8. Leah says:

Aw. She’s so proud of her fancy hair.

  9. Heidi says:

LOL the higher the hair…the closer to God. LOL. Love it!
