Let’s just say it was different than he had imagined.

Jesus is the one taking the picture.
I don’t come here to debate cultural/political/religious issues. Celeb or not, this pic is perfect for this site. The fact that it’s a celeb makes it a tad funnier and ironic. KC himself would probably chuckle. It’s unfortunate that some, rather than just enjoying the pic, had to take the opportunity to show their twisted judgmental intolerance of other religions. There are thousands of other sites for that. This isn’t one of them.
Christian bashing is a new sport, especially by Hollywood and the Media. Those who are anti-religion seem to be very unhappy people who get a kick out of bashing people who don’t share their beliefs. And they’re supposed to be the “tolerant” ones, right?! How do you spell hypocrisy?!
Yes, this is a painfully awkward office birthday party for a former child star. Four sandwiches (3 foot longs and a 6 inch) and a sad little chocolate cake. Two, but probably three, coworkers accounting for the person taking this photo. VERY unenthusiastic coworkers…not even a hint of a smile when you know your photo is being taken. For that matter, WHY does he have an office? Oh, right, for those dreadful “Left Behind” movies.
R, so what if he’s a “good Christian family man”? Just because he’s a Christian does not equal that he’s a good person. He’s just as judgmental and condescending as I expect other “pseudo-Christians” to be. He has indeed made very critical, spiteful, and hateful statements about homosexuality which if he were a true Christian, he wouldn’t make in the first place.
Very inappropriate comments for this site. There are other sites to go to if you want to Christian-bash.
I’ve never heard anything negative or hateful from Him, but thank you, Miss Scarlett, for giving us all examples of what hate speech would sound like should we come across it. Even if KC did, nothing corrects hate better than the formula of more hate + name calling + stereotyping. I recall some teaching in elementary school about that sort of stuff. That and, “Keep your hands and feet to yourself.” I only mention the latter lesson to protect the slow learners here because the authorities tend to frown on not learning that one. Anyways, thank you, Miss Scarlett, for taking my cheerful Saturday morning and bringing it to a screeching halt. But, no worries, I’ll forgive & forget after morning toast & tea.
It’s “hate speech” now to say that someone is judgmental and condescending? If your day was ruined because of a few not-so-flattering remarks about Kirk Cameron, I suggest that you perhaps need to get a life.
I didn’t know he was famous, I just thought it was hilarious.
Still better than my birthday party. :’(
I believe everything composed was actually very logical.
But, consider this, suppose you were to create a
killer headline? I am not saying your content is not solid., however
what if you added a title that makes people want more?
I mean Kirk Cameron
Really people; it’s not that serious.
It’s awkward because usually people who throw an office birthday party not only show up for the person to blow out the candles but they crowd around looking happy. Here there are only two people standing far away and looking less than overjoyed.
If the title didn’t point out that it’s KC everyone would be laughing.
I agree that this is a fun site and it is nice to keep it a-political and free of religion, judgment, etc…, but KC just doesn’t sound like a christian to me. He spews a lot of hate, so he kind of brings it on himself!
He should learn about tolerance.
He does not spew any hate.
Sounds like you could learn a little tolerance yourself there buddy….
Hilarious picture! Thank you AFP. The strange looking co-workers? The guy all by himself blowing out the candle. Birthday in a surreal place I don’t care who you are. I think Kirk Cameron’s behavior is bizarre though. A bizarre guy having a surreal birthday.
Yeah he’s a nice Christian family man, how bizarre.
KC is a humble man who has quietly been doing a lot of good for years. I suspect this was some place he was volunteering for, or maybe some people he helped wanted to do something nice for him. That said, I agree it’s the perfect pic for AFP!
Shame to see so much hate being spewed on a fun website.
Ditto. I don’t come here for that. I always like that the AFP commenters are so nice, but not this time.
Hate like Kirk Cameron saying, “Homosexuality is unnatural, detrimental and ultimately destructive to foundations of civilization”?
Who the hell is Kirk Cameron??
A now grown up child star. He was on TV show called “Growing Pains” from 1985-1992. His character was named “Mike Seaver” and was a total prick. Deceitful, greedy, randy, and all around unpleasant. Mr Cameron became a born again Christian and now plays in “Left Behind” movies about the Rapture and videos proclaiming the banana is proof evolution is blasphemy. Oh, and that gay marriage is “ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization”.
So proud of him! Christian, still married to his sweetheart from sitcom, father of several, and still starring in clean films. He left filth of Hollywood and turned his attention to Christian films instead.
Christians – of which I am one – realize that people can laugh at an odd picture of Kirk Cameron in a drab, dull office environment with blaspheming God and Christianity. It’s okay. Chuckle. Laugh. Smile. It feels better than always being so uptight.
WHO here is “blaspheming God”?
Not awkward. Not funny. Just a guy having a normal low key b-day party. Wow, it must have been a slow day at Awkward Family Photos for you all to have to resort to posting this. Come on, you can do better.
The miserable looking woman standing at the door’s threshold makes this picture awkward, as does the slightly-less-miserable looking woman standing to the side. And there is the fact that the room is fairly empty considering this is an office birthday party.
It’s so nice to see that the office staff splurged and got Kirk a Chocolate Chip Party Cake from KFC. But hey, they were going all out: don’t forget they got Subway too.
Maybe they’re standing at the back because instead of candles they put firecrackers?
I don’t understand why this is awkward.
And, no disrespect, who cares about Kirk Cameron?
Why is this funny?
Curious where you got the pic…from this angle, it really could be anyone. And his birthday is in October, so this is either a few years old (he’ll be 43 this October), or a spoof. Or both.
There were more people at his party, but this picture was taken seconds after the rapture.
Very funny Brian
There were more people at his party but this picture was taken seconds after the rapture.
No hookers? No blow? No prison bars? He’s still alive, and not homeless? I’d call that party a huge success in adult child-star terms.
Oh noes! A regular guy having a regular birthday! Good for him!
I’m pretty sure a regular guy would have more interested people in the frame rather than some awkward people standing in the distance of a birthday party, behind boxes or beyond a door frame.
That, and he’s not a regular guy.
He’s not a regular guy. He’s a homophobic jerk and the reason this is funny is because it’s a sad little party for a sad little man.
He actually is a very nice guy and not what you claim. There are other sites to go to if you feel the need to debate (and I use the term loosely) those issues. Just have fun and enjoy the pic, that’s what this site is for.
I don’t get the point of posting this picture and why it is awkward or funny.
Yeah leaving Hollywood is a fall from grace. Have you see what teen actors turn into out of Hollywood? He was saved in more than one way. Good for him.
Ok so what is the angle here? Are you trying to say that unless he has 1000 people at a huge party that he’s a loser? Kinda rude actually.
Two deeply unenthusiastic onlookers, 3-1/2 Subway sandwiches, a couple of Styrofoam bowls full of condiments and a lone ice tea bottle – THAT’S the angle here.
Because office parties are always super awesome?
no, not “super awesome” but better than that sad mess
That’s not fair, the people were on the side of the photographer, trying to stay out of the picture for him.
OK, this is an old picture, a couple years old.
But… why would people want to stay out of the picture. WHY would someone STAND BEHIND BOXES? If they’re trying to stay out of the picture, those two women failed pretty spectacularly. Instead of accepting explanations that don’t make any sense, it’s time to consider suggestions that are outside the official line.
They clearly stood back to get out of the shot & are not smiling big because they didn’t think they would be in a picture. If the photographer had taken a picture of Kirk & not the whole room this wouldn’t have been an issue.
Yes, they obviously knew exactly how the picture was going to be framed. You’re silly.
Uh… there are four sandwiches on the table! That’s all we need to know.
I don’t get it. Looks like a normal, every day guy, having some cake at the office on his birthday. Or, is it supposed to be funny because it’s Kirk Cameron and he’s a Christian?
Kristi, calm down. It’s an awkward picture because there are two very bored co-workers off to the side and some awkwardly arranged sandwiches. It would be funny whether it was Kirk Cameron or some random dude.
Oh it’s a lot funnier because it’s Kirk Cameron. Seeing such a monumantally deceitful and hatefilled person so alone reassures us that there is some justice in the world.
He is not deceitful nor hate-filled nor alone. He has led an upstanding life and this looks like it’s a lot better (ie clean and legal) than many other birthday parties of former kid stars.
Fall from grace much?
Looks like he got left behind…
for the win!
Hahahahahahahahaha This wins
That cake’s not Godly enough.
It’s Devil’s Food.
I think I love you.
