Recreating The Awkwardness

January 13th, 2014

“As a Christmas gift for the in-laws my husband and I decided to re create his 1976 former communist Poland baptism photo.  My husbands grandmother was a seamstress and sewed the polyester suit that little B is wearing and of course adorned it for his special day.  Unfortunately he was still not happy- after many tries this was the happiest shot they could get out of him!”

in Poland you don’t baptise kids at this age.

Anna, In 1976, my husband’s father worked on the ships in Gdynia. He worked for 6 month periods- meaning he was away from home and living on a ship. My in laws decided to have the baptism when my father in law was in Poland as opposed to when he was on the ship so that he would be able to attend it.
Are you seriously questioning the authenticity of the photo- are you suggesting that it is not in Poland?
And I will add that I have been living in Poland for 13 years and speak the language. I am well aware of the culture here.
So please don’t make a blanket statement “in Poland” because not everybody does the same thing as perhaps they did where you come from.

Gosh, I don’t understand the story behind this.

what is not to understand. I shot the photo as a Christmas gift for my in laws. The original was during my husband’s baptism.

Love it! I wish you (white shirt) would have pulled your pants up higher. Like the original, it adds to the quirkiness! =) Great pic!
