Somebody told Alan he should submit this to Awkward Family Photos… somebody was right.
(submitted by Alan)
Thanks for fessing up Alan. It’s always fun to know more background information. Hey, at least you had the black outline in the vest. I forgot those dark blue pants your brothers are wearing in the picture were standard issue during the time. Dark blue was the “flashy” color for guys back in the day.
The brother on the left must be the renegade of the family — moustache, plus a sweater vest with argyle DIAMONDS instead of squares! Bad boy!
I’m Alan (blush, blush!). This picture is definitely not from Europe or the North Sea, Gideon, rather Michigan in the early 70s. Also, I confess, I’m wearing the beige and black vest…
This has got to be a euro-pic – and I’d guess from the Netherlands or somewhere near the North Sea.
I feel that seizure aura coming on.
So – which person in the photo is Alan? I was a kid during this era. This was the “Beige and Brown” era as I call it. Think I’m joking? Count up the total number for beige and brown colors in the photo including the clothes and furniture. Except maybe for Dad, everyone’s hair even looks like some shade of brown!
It was taken in the VESTibule.
They had a vested interest in fashion.
Everything about this photo is awkward!
The generation gap had grown mighty wide by 1975. The vests just make me smile (I had worse), but the clothes on the older generation look like what really square folks wore in 1965, and everyone wore in 1955. Turn off Ed Sullivan and look outside, folks.
