Interview With A Vampire - Behind The Awkwardness

“Back in the early 1970’s my crazy mother loved having big, over the top Halloween parties.  At this one, she rented a coffin from a funeral home and laid in it for hours while my friends came to visit her.  I think she was loaded personally.  To this day, people remember her for this party!”

  3. Strepsi says:

Your mother found a way to hostess the party of the year, AND to nap through it! She is my hero.

  4. Adam says:

I applaud this mother for a creative way of taking a nap to avoid the nonstop hectic parenting of the rest of her life. 🙂

  5. Claire's mom says:

Why is everyone so hung up on the whole “it’s a real coffin/it’s not a real coffin/what type of coffin is it”? His mother dressed up like this and laid herself out in a coffin or a box resembling a coffin. His mother! On Halloween! For hours! She created a memory for those kids for a lifetime and for our entertainment now. That is awesomeness, both in concept and execution. I applaud you, spirited – and perhaps full of spirits (hey, no judging) – 70’s mom!

  6. Bren says:

The coffin looks like the kind they sell you for cremation purposes, not internment.

  7. Claire's mom says:

Love love LOVE this! The photo, the story….

  8. Joan says:

It’s not awkward. More like AWESOME!!!!!

  9. Dan says:

That “rented coffin” looks remarkably like a painted cardboard box.
