Uncle Dick’s Condiment Photobomb

My Stepdaughters and I were in Chicago visiting my brother-in-law, a professional photographer.  He would always set up a mini-studio and shoot pics of the family while we would visit. This particular year, it coincided with a BBQ. Uncle Dick, my mother-in-law’s brother, had been carrying items to the table without realizing he was walking thru the background of the set. He had no idea we were taking pics.

Floater

“My nephew was running in a little marathon for his school. He kind of jumped to change lanes and this is the photo of him floating above the track.”

My Pink Nightmare

“A friend of mine captioned this photo perfectly: ‘Chicken pox, no teeth, an ugly costume…still, the show must go on!'”

High Beams

“For Spring Kindergarten pictures, my normally photogenic son decided he wanted to ‘smile really, really hard!’ His words, not mine. Mission accomplished.”

Maroon 5

“My mother must have ransacked the Sears catalog to purchase these Sears Tuffskins maroon denim outfits (with white top-stitching) for all five of us kids. She got matching outfits for herself and Dad, who aren’t in the photo. Then we all went to Six Flags Over Georgia, where we were mistaken for – on multiple occasions – either a gospel group or a a country music band. As the eldest child (12) and only girl…I was completely mortified and spent most of the day dragging 20 feet behind my family. Flash forward 44 years and it is now my brothers’ and my most ‘precious’ (and totally hilarious) memory! Embrace the awkward!”

I Dream Of Ricky

“This is me in my bedroom, with puffy Ralph Macchio-style hair, in the industrial loft that I grew up in (hence the water pipes and asbestos ceiling directly over my head). This photo perfectly encapsulates my world at the time, which was MTV and Ricky Schroder.”

Change Of Heart

“This is my husband and four children. We asked the kids to sit down with Dad to get their pictures together, but my daughter didn’t want to be in the picture, so said, “Okay, just stay over there.” I started to take the picture and she got even more upset for being left OUT of the picture. As you can see my husband was also annoyed!”

Wedding Crasher

“After our wedding ceremony our photographer and wedding party went around to take pictures and while we were at this park along the river. She thought it’d be neat for my new husband to dip me backwards and kiss me while holding my leg up. Well, my nerves must not have been settled since our recent exchange of vows because I accidentally leaned back after giving him my leg, but before he was ready to hold me. I actually forgot all about this even happening until I saw our photographers photos. There’s actually a 3 picture series of me falling, but this one is my favorite because of everyone’s faces. I also love how my hand is desperately seeking help, and the fact that my husband is smiling about it.”
