“We had a pilgrim costume in our family, and my mom thought it was hilarious to sew a red letter “A” on it for me to wear on Halloween. She told me it was because my name starts with A, but I’m sure the teachers and school administration thought it was either amazingly funny or completely inappropriate to dress up a 4th grader as Hester Prynne.”

“These are my 3 sons. The oldest on the left is wearing his robe backwards like a Snuggie, Caden sitting below seems oblivious that a camera is near and decided this was the day he’d style his hair like a 65 year old man from the 60’s. Mason on the left doesn’t seem to mind that the palm branches are caressing his locks. For the last 10 years, I’ve always carved a pumpkin for the boys. My oldest named it “Boo Zoo Elf” when he was 5 and thus we’ve stuck with Boo-Zoo Elf 2, 3, 4,….. Boo-Zoo Elf 10 appears in a few days.”

“I was barely a month old and my parents my parents decided my first ‘outing’ should be a trip to the local mall. Not only were those mall scarecrows scarier than anything I’ve ever seen in a horror movie, I was doomed to live a life as a NY jets fan.”

It wasn’t the costume he had envisioned.
“This is from 1988 I believe, I would have been 5. While other little girls were dressing up as princesses, witches, or something cute, my mother decided to dress me as Santa Claus! Because what 5 year old little girl wouldn’t want to be Santa for Halloween? My sister was a duck, my mother convinced her she was dressed as Howard the Duck (I was so jealous!). Another one of my sisters is a dog, and my oldest sister was a fashionable 80’s fashionista (lucky!). That’s my mom in the picture, proudly showing off her misfit kids!”

“My dad was a history enthusiast. My mom a nurse. On a dark and stormy night they joined together and this is what happened.”

It was worth it for the extra rent.
