Shirts And Skins

“We went to a hotel for a special Easter egg hunt and brunch. We waited in line for 40 minutes, in sweltering heat, so my husband took his shirt off. I’m the horrified mom while my kids didn’t bat an eye when daddy peeled off his shirt.”

Feeding Frenzy

“A lovely picture I drew of me, my cousins, and brother throwing my mother into shark-infested waters. I distinctly remember adding stripes to the shark because I knew tiger sharks were known to be aggressive. This is neatly labeled on the back ‘Sarah: 7 years old’ and lives on my parent’s fridge. To this day, I have no idea why people weren’t more concerned.”

He Also Sees You When You’re Sleeping

“This is a photo of me and my two sisters with Santa Claus, and there was some random guy who was looking through the window as the photo was taken. We didn’t realize he was in there ’til we got the photos back.”

Queen Of The Cows

“In Nebraska in the 1980’s,  they didn’t just have just regular beauty pageants, they had special pageants for Queen of the Cows. I received a stunning faux crown to place on the felt cowboy hat of my choice, and a $200 gift certificate to my favorite western store to purchase my new glitzy outfit. The handmade blue suede leather sash had to be returned. As you can imagine, I was the talk of the town.”

Santa Got Run Over By A Reindeer

“This picture was taken in about 1952. The boy sitting on the lap of ‘Santa’ is my husband’s cousin, Teddy. ‘Santa’ is ‘Uncle Bob’ who apparently didn’t notice that his mask was melting off. My husband thankfully doesn’t remember any of this. No word if little Teddy ever recovered from the trauma.”

Bounce

“This is Mother’s Day, 1994. My grandmother asked to try out my new pogo stick, and my mom was there to capture the result.”

Snowballs

“Our youngest daughter was throwing snowballs at my husband on the first warm day we have seen in months. Apparently, forty-five degres and sunshine equals no shoes! I was attempting to take a photo of her tossing a snowball barefoot and captured her hitting the bullseye instead!”

“This is me and my dad 1977 Coney Island. He would be vilified and in jail today for this.”
