Shirt Happens 2

“For some reason my mom thought it was okay for me to dress myself for our annual 4th of July bash. Thank you, awkward phase.”

Cousin Ronnie

“This gem is from my baby photo album. My cousin Ronnie is holding me for the first time. He’s supposedly wearing shorts but you be the judge.”

A Sisterly Engagement

“Someone our school talked my Mom into having my next oldest sister and me pose for what would be the least-seen photo in our family’s history. I was dragged out of 9th grade gym class and forced to don my choir robe, sweat still oozing from my pubescent pores. My sister, Emily wore her 10th grade orchestra band uniform. It wound up looking like an engagement photo, and it’s been a black mark on both of our developmental histories. Horrified by the final product and our over-tweezed eyebrows, this ‘precious family memory’ has been hidden in the shameful confines of my sister’s wallet, and has not seen the light of day for over 30 years.”

The Uncanny Valley

“This ‘portrait’ (I use the term loosely) was the best man’s wedding gift (I again use the term loosely) for my best friend, Leya and her husband Trevor. He had it ‘commissioned’ this painting based on a photo taken at Trevor’s police academy graduation. The intention was good, the outcome not so. Whenever any of us who present that day see, hear or talk about this portrait we instantly dissolve into uncontrollable laughter. Thankfully, the best man was not pleased with the outcome either and does find the humor in the situation.”

Living On A Prayer

“Here’s my twins’ 1st-2nd grade basketball team. In the back row is one of my boys (the ginger), normal as can be. Front row, the other ginger, also mine. No idea what he was doing, but the scary thing is that this was the best picture they took of the team. I’d love to see the outtakes!”
