Family Portrait

Freebie

“My buddy Josh and his older sister and brother when they were little guys. Apparently when the photographer saw all the prints from the photo shoot, he gave this one to his mom for free because it’s just so hilarious. He would hide it from me when I went to his house because I would cry from laughing at it so much.”

Angels In The Food Court

“It was family day at the mall and my brother and I were blindsided by this awful scheme. My mother stopped right in front of one of those kiosks where you dress up your kids in mortifying costumes and take pictures of them. Of course Mom was all for it, but my brother and I were not going that easy. She bribed me with a Bratz doll, my brother a toy race car, and there was ice cream included on the way home. Our faces are not the happiest, but the best part is my Shih-Tzu hair. Clearly it was my thing, looking back at all my old pictures. Thanks Mom.”

Toe To Toe

“I blew up this photo to give to family members and that was when we noticed…the toe?!”

Professor Plum

“When I was four my Mom sent my Dad to buy me a suit and take some pictures. This is what he came back with.”

Family Appreciation Day

“Pictured here: my sweet, loving grandmother, my sister, her husband and their cute baby boy. The nursing home set up a photo studio and invited the families of residents to come in for a FREE family portrait for their annual ‘Family Appreciation Day.” This is the photo we got! My grandmother is reacting to something or someone off screen and clearly she does not like what she sees! But c’mon, give a gal a ‘1-2-3’ before snapping her picture. It’s inexplicable that the photographer let this one slide, but now we have this delightfully tragic image to feel weird about for years to come. Thanks?”

The Fight Before Christmas

“Our annual family pictures used to be very stressful events, but 1998 took the cake. In this picture, I had just taken a Santa doll from my sister. She retaliated by slapping me and taking the doll back. I was clutching my face and my dad flipped her over his shoulder just as the automatic timer went off. All my mom could do was stand by helplessly.”

All Their Ducks In A Row

“This was a family portrait and Mom had made us all duck sweatshirts. I had an asymmetrical hairdo and I don’t know what was worse – Mom’s braces or her makeup!”
