Family Portrait

You Can Call Me Al

My Mom, Dad, sister, Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt. I’m the little girl with the amazing ringlet in the pink coat. The best part is, this was in the 80’s and you just know we set the timer on that ol’ Canon and Dad had to run like hell to get back to his designated spot. We got it developed and then noticed the gun to Grandpa Al’s head. It eventually was enlarged and framed in each household! Even better, my grandparents are Al and Betty. ‘You can call be Betty, and Betty when you call me you can caaalllllll meeee Aalllll!’ They have never heard the song.”

Take A Sleep On The Wild Side

“My sister must have fallen asleep on a family walk so she got plonked on the ground for this photo.”

Squirrel Bomb

“It wasn’t until I was editing the photos in Lightroom that I noticed the squirrel trying to be a part of the family portrait.”

Matchy-Matchy

This is my boyfriend and I at Central Park this summer. Obviously, no one noticed the matchy-matchy family on the right until later. Got a lot of laughs.

Hot Diggety Dog

“We were at a family hot dog roast and my aunt captured this unknowingly of my family and my grandmother. My aunt gave the picture to us as a Christmas gift. I noticed it as soon as I opened it but refrained from busting out laughing, and thanked my aunt graciously.  My wife said in the vehicle after we left that it was a nice picture, I said take a look again and that’s when it hit her. It is now forever displayed in our kitchen!”

Parents Disagree Over Son’s Mohawak

“Dad wanted the mohawk to be worn like a comb over but mom thought it should be worn proud.  Mom was a lot cooler than you would expect.”

The Woman In Black

“Typical family dinner.”

Different Strokes

“My family posed for this shot when I was 4 or 5. I’m front and center. I laughed so hard when I rediscovered this photo. I love how we are all looking different directions.”

Choir Boys

“My mom thought it appropriate to dress my brothers and I in identical Mormon-boys-choir outfits for our family portrait.”

Hair Band

“Ahh, 1988. The year my family had the same haircut.”
