Garden of Eden

« Back to The Awkward Engagement Photo Contest

“This photo has it all when it comes to awkward engagement photos. My husband and I were 19 at the time of the photo and I was still a bit rebellious. My dad was paying for the wedding (including the engagement photos) and I seized the opportunity to show him how grown up I was. I was attempting an artistic Garden of Eden which even included my pet python, Merlin. I frantically purchased fake flowers the day of the photo shoot because I was inspired to make the photo more authentic. After our traditional engagement photos, we took our clothes off and tried some alternate poses.  When we got our proofs back, we showed them to my family at my birthday dinner. My grandma screamed, “OH MY GOD!” and I started crying and ran to the car where soon-to-be husband yelled, “Well, what did you expect!?!”

If anything came out of this, the bride to be found out 100% that she had a keeper:) He knew it was an insane idea but went with it anyway because it mattered to her. This is not the same as going with a china pattern he didn’t love or a bedroom that is decorated too girlie… this poor man got naked in front of a camera for pictures that would be shown to EVERYONE they know… that’s love :)

This is the kind of engagement photo you take to say “F-U” family, I am getting married if you like it or NOT! Very funny. I also think they have great guts to go naked! That is amazing! I could never do that!

Unfortunately… she totally forgot to include the apple.. she could have been holding it in her other hand…. with a bite taken out of it… that would have made this PERFECT!

Snake? That actually makes me feel better. I thought it was a whip.

The story that goes with it is priceless. I commend this gal for putting herself out there like that (literally and figuratively) so she can win the contest. I hope this one wins.
