“Classic tourist photo op near Waikiki. I’m pretty sure that the performers made my dad take his shirt off. It sure wasn’t our choice. (P.S. I’m in the red striped socks.)”
Wow! We’re honored to have won (although we’re crazily trying to plan right now).
A little more backstory — my mom tells me (I forgot) that this actually wasn’t your typical tourist photo. We had visited the Polynesian Cultural Center earlier during our trip, but due to a camera malfunction, all the pictures from that day were lost. (Film not loaded right or something.) When my parents told these performers at the Royal Hawaiian hotel in Waikiki what had happened, they were gracious enough to lend us their costumes for an “authentic” photo.
So yeah, apparently not everybody got to wear all that gear. Lucky us!! Twice!

I just noticed you and Josh (in glasses) and probably Jeremy (baby) are wearing sarongs. Haha! All sorts of hidden treasure in this gem.
Actually, I think Dad was pretty cool to put on that outfit and let himself be pictured.
Congratulations! How come Germ didn’t get to wear any decorations? Aloha!
Congratulations, Darryl! Hope you get lots of awkward photos!
