As a fourth-generation Memphian, and someone who currently lives in a loft with a view of the river, I can say that that looks an awful lot like the Mississippi River at Memphis. The flag is probably flying at a booth with people from Chicago at the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

The tent and flags remind me of the Taste of Chicago – but there’s no sandy beach in Grant Park. And that is not Oak St Beach with the trees in the background.

Thanks Danielle. I was going to ask if anyone knew why there was a Chicago flag there. Could it be Oak Street Beech if there are trees that close on the other side of the lake? Isn’t the lake much wider than that? I’m wondering what that flag is doing in Memphis.

  4. Danielle says:

Sorry, but anyone from the windy city will know that there is a giant Chicago flag in the background…this was most likely taken at Oak Street Beach in Chicago.

This made my heart smile. Fly your freak flag, April!

I love how the mom is wearing the little white socks with the red poofy balls. I remember my mom wearing those type of socks as well!

I think April got into the tequila somehow.

Wow, a giant tequila celebration! This wins for awkward in my eyes!
