Virgin America Awkward Family Vacation Contest

Well, we asked to send in your awkward family vacation photos and you delivered a record amount of submissions. Now, Virgin America & AFP have narrowed it down to the top 20 finalists and it’s up to you to decide which awkward family gets the big prize.

Check out the top twenty photos in the Awkward Family Vacation Photo Contest and vote for your favorite by 11:59pm PST on October 13th.  The one with the most votes will score a less awkward family vacation: FOUR ROUND-TRIP TICKETS TO ANYWHERE VIRGIN AMERICA FLIES. Vote for as many photos as you like and as many times as you want. Just by voting, you’ll receive 33.3% off your next family booking (parties of 3-6 people) to or from Orlando (restrictions, taxes, and fees apply).

And congratulations to the Hawaii Five-Whoah family, who won a seat on the launch of Virgin America’s new nonstop service to Orlando and 3-nights accommodations compliments of the Hilton, located in the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort!

Vote for your favorite now (the finalists are on two pages) and you can also check out all of the uncomfortable submissions here.

Mountain High

“We drove to the top of Mt. Washington this summer. We thought it was the greatest experience of a lifetime. Our kids wanted nothing to do with it.”

The Natural

“This is my father as tourist in 1977 Hawaii. He wore this completely unironically. Unmatching plaid shirt & shorts. Tall socks & sandals. Camera. And yeah, that’s a Budweiser hat.”

The Young Man and The Sea

“I’m the oldest of four children. Three of us are posing happily together in the middle of the picture taken on a whale-watching expedition out of Bar Harbor, Maine. The kid in the red raincoat in front, strategically positioned by the trash can, is my brother who got seasick. Having all been raised under the “cowboy up, princess” philosophy espoused by my dad (the photographer here), none of us were particularly sympathetic to his suffering.”

Hangin’ Loose

“My Grandma took me to one of the most beautiful place on Earth during one of my most awkward moments in life. As if the bad hair and cockeyed enormous glasses weren’t enough, my Great-Aunt decided we should dress in ‘authentic’ mu-mu’s for our dinner cruise. Everyone else was smart enough to pass on the offer. Oh, and the guy signing to hang loose….though we only knew each other for the 30 seconds it took to take this picture, I would love him for long after.”

Ahoy!

“On one of our “educational” vacations, we visited an historical vessel in a city I can’t recall. We were thrilled.”
