I just can’t understand what is so bad about naked human body? We are all born naked and really we all look the same. Naked in europe means really naked. No knickers, no bras no socks ;) or anything. (I bet the guy at the picture really isn’t naked.) In America it seems that if someone is missing either top or bottom, he/she is considered “naked”. Come on! I don’t walk around naked, but if a stranger accidentaly saw me with no clothes on, it wouldn’t bother me. Just a couple of weeks ago I changed my skirt at a very public park because I was being photographed for a commercial. I’ve seen countless people naked, men and women, starting at a very young age. So are my parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, uncles and aunts and my friends. We are not traumatized or any way bad people.

    Hilarious!!

  3. meg says:

if it was made to look like the mom was naked then people would think it was OK! Get over it,its just funny!!

  4. JohnB says:

I’m just mad we didnt think of it first…very funny….

  5. Aussie Robbo says:

erm.. I hope when Santa slides down the chimney
he doesn’t get stuck in a deep dark sooty place.

  6. CJ says:

Mom’s cute. Wish she had taken dad’s place!

  7. Vince says:

We’re proud to be Minnesota relatives of such a fun loving family….way to go!!!!!!!

  10. Karin says:

Love the photo & your family’s sense of humor! I may edit who I sent it to, personally it would give my mom heart failure, but most people I’m sure got a kick out of it!

  11. Tedeau says:

It has to be one of two things, either it’s Naked Man, mild mannered super hero waiting on Santa Clause or he lost a bet with the wife and had to do the Christmas Card photo in the buff. Can you imagine the look on Santa’s face if he should happen to pop down the chimney right about now!

  12. Kristin says:

Thank you for all of your comments (well, mostly all of them!)

You can check out the ‘real’ story behind “White Christmas” on katu.com and this afternoon on CNN at 3:57pm PST.

    Have a Merry (White) Christmas!

  13. Tami says:

  14. Allison says:

“My wife in her kerchief…I in my birthday suit…had just settled down for a long winter’s nap…”

  15. Cyndi says:

The red toe nails on dad topped it for me ! At least the kids know at an early age that their dad will continue to provide them many embarrassing teenage years!

    • mb says:

Not to burst your bubble, but thats not toenail polish. SB is all man. It is from dropping a woodstove on the toe the weekend before….surprised the nail is still there.

  16. Noortje says:

I don’t know what’s up with you guys :S Here in Europe it’s pretty normal to see your parents naked..

  17. Deston says:

This is a Hall-of-Famer. I was told that either we vote for them, or next year, he’ll be standing up.

  18. Sandee says:

Always entertaining! Thank you, Scott, for making my Christmas a white one:)

  19. Anthony says:

  20. Piper says:

    Lighten up, folks.

    This is hilarious!

  21. Katie says:

This photo had me in hysterics the first time I saw it. PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT.

  22. Pipergirl says:

Oh, I’d say the Big Guy’s already here, and he’s in landscape, baby!

  23. mb says:

I have inside information on this one…..Photo is real. I still think they should have used the one where everyone one else was naked and Dad was fully clothed. But I am only the photographer……..c’est la vie.

  24. Darren says:

I’m kidding of course. It’s awesome.

  25. Darren says:

    That is so wrong Scott!!

  26. CBEE says:

As a wife myself, I see the conversation going like this, “C’mon hon, just wear the matching pajamas for a Christmas card picture.” “I’m NOT wearing matching jammies. I’m a grown man.” “Fine!” “FINE!” “FINE! You can be NAKED then!” And an awkward photo was born. Obviously he’s not really naked. This is hilarious.

  27. Dysphemisms says:

I don’t think there is anything creepy about this picture at all. It looks like a family that knows how to have fun.

  28. Snowrider says:

“OK kids off to bed now. Your mother and I have something that we need to discuss” Boom, chicka bow bow…..

  29. Lisa says:

This is my family and the pic is hilarious. I love it. Love you guys!

  30. Moatser says:

This is awesome you guys! Definitely a winner in my book. I love some of the comments. After all, it is an Awkward Family Photo contest. Great job and have a Merry Christmas.

  31. Linda says:

    too funny !

  32. Jenn says:

I bet that guys naked! Tis the season to be jolly. Fa la la la la la la la.

  33. Margo says:

    I love this! Very clever!

  34. maree says:

    Very white and very funny!

  35. Doc says:

I think it a photoshop oddity. Even photoshopped it’s weird. If not, then whether or not the guy has shorts on is irrelevant; there’s still some therapy needed for those kids.

    • Laurel says:

Photoshopped? Are you joking? That is a 100% Washingtonian man! We all look like this from October until July. Then we’re all pink.

      • Steph says:

You’re probably new around here, Laurel, so I’m gonna let you in an one of the most important and respected rules on this site. For every awkward photo posted, no matter how simple or extraordinary, there has to be a minimum of one idiotic comment that accuses it of being photoshopped.

  36. Anna says:

Bwahahahah, Kristen that is hilarious! Your family has such a great sense of humor. I can tell you want to crack up! People, I know for a fact the Dad has shorts on!

  37. Marlene says:

LOL, why… someone just tell me why!!! lol

(and please, don’t jump to conclusions that the man is in the buff, he obviously is wearing shorts!)

  38. LKT says:

8-0 I got nothing….And apparently, Dad is wearing nothing.

  39. K says:

This is such a great, funny picture…LOVE IT!!!!…please people its suppose to be funny..get off your high horses…

  40. Dawn and Gregg says:

We know this family. Very sweet and delightful family. I’m sure “Dad” has SOMETHING on…Fun photo! Thanks for sharing! Hope you win!!

  41. Elizabeth says:

By the way, I am loving the fact that my message has to await modification as if… well, self explanatory…. :)

  42. Elizabeth says:

Oh boy, I don’t know what to say. I agree, a little creepy! Sure is a white Christmas there Scott! Obviously you guys would benefit from some Malaysian weather. Merry Christmas just the same!

  43. Manda says:

What’s with dad? Creepy and totally inappropriate to be nude like that with the children. Hopefully he had some shorts on. Mom looks very uncomfortable.

    • K says:

      Give me a break…

    • Jamie says:

Oh please….totally hilarious…this family is sweet and I am completely sure he isn’t fully nude…seriously lighten up!!

    • CB says:

Kay, I’m sure he’s not naked, it’s just meant to look that way….which is why it’s awkward and funny. To people who think the children would be affected by this sight: you never saw your dad without his shirt on at any time in your life? Summer time must have been terribly awkward in your family…..

Plus, I don’t think mom looks uncomfortable at all….they have two kids. Even if he was naked, I’m sure she doesn’t mind.

    • Lindsay says:

too funny! I think this is totally clever and hilarious… I may even copy this idea for next year’s card! The only part I find disturbing is that it appears dad has his toenails painted red….? Umm, am I the only one who noticed?

    • Weav says:

Oh duh, Manda….like it’s the worst thing in the world to see another human’s body. I think it’s great!

    • Chip says:

Don’t be such a prude! Its is a joke, a contest! Get a since of humor!

    • Missie says:

Oh, come on, it’s funny. Definitely lighten up!!!

    • Skylos says:

The idea that its somehow inappropriate or wrong or creepy for children to be exposed to nudity is the kind of uptight prudery america is famous for. News flash: nudity/human body does not harm children. Get over it.

    • yolanda says:

Lighten up! Not everyone agrees that nudity is sexual and lots of families all over the world allow nudity around the kids. it’s very natural. I was raised that way and while I can’t say I appreciated the view, it was not abusive or sexual and I’m fine!
