“Me and my sister in a year-end show in Spain. The monkey’s hands were very cold and for some strange reason, my sister and the monkey had the same shoes.”

Morning Person

December 17th, 2012

“On Christmas morning my mother always made us take a family photo. I (the troll-ish looking blonde on the right) have never been a morning person, regardless of the holiday. You can see the pure exhaustion in my dad’s eyes having been awakened at an ungodly hour. My sister, obedient and angelic looking as always. And last is my brother, who’s dinosaur pajamas only add to the goofiness which is his face. And my mother of course is absent from the photo because “who else would take the photo?” Hello? Camera timer???”

The Resemblance

December 17th, 2012

“My dad enacted an elaborate bait-and-switch Santa scenario each Christmas. It began with him leaving on Christmas Eve to “get batteries” and ended with my sister and I telling him when he returned that he had tragically just missed Santa yet again. In this picture, my sister and I are apparently too young to appreciate the magic of Christmas.”

Mistletoe Moment

December 16th, 2012

“This is my uncle and I kissing as my then aunt looks excitedly on. I think he was a bit taken aback by my reaction to his Christmas present … and so am I as I look at this photo 30 years later.”

Pump Up The Jammies

December 16th, 2012

“This was Christmas morning when I was about 6 and my sister was 10. My grandmother had sent this horrible pajamas to us. My mom made us put them on for a picture to send back to grandma. I thought they were great but my sister HATED them.”
