“Wait, you aren’t supposed to wear matching t-shirts visible from miles away, fanny packs all around, and boots with socks sticking out of the top on family vacations? I think it’s a fashion statement. Also note I am wearing clip on sunglasses (to go over my normal glasses) and I thought they were the coolest things ever. Gotta love the 90s.”

“We were at a friends lakeside house for a winter vacation and I wanted to take a Christmas card photo. At the dismay of my sons and very unhappy husband we ended up the this pic. I remember my son Dan saying..”Just do it for mom guys. The faster we do it the faster it will be over.”

“To celebrate the first year of marriage of my father and step mother, they thought it would be a good idea to go on a camping road trip to Colorado in a GMC Jimmy with my step brother, step sister, brother and me (the lovely girl wearing even lovelier glasses), all aged between twelve and fourteen. To this day, we kids call it The Vacation from Hell.”

“We were going river rafting in Canada. The wetsuits they gave us couldn’t have been brighter or more fitted. These were definitely the gawky teen years!!”

Sweet and Sour

August 1st, 2011

Every year we take a family trip to the Embassy Suites in Indianapolis because the kids love Sweety, the resident bird. We always take a family photo with him before we leave. This particular year, we tried several times to get a good picture, but my darling children were not cooperating “sweetly”. Ugh!
