When Cake Cuttings Go Wrong

Photographer Tom Hall had the misfortune of documenting this incident at a couple’s wedding. The newlyweds, Ken and Amanda, were already having a rough wedding day, misplacing both Amanda’s heirloom brooch, once owned by her Great-Grandmother, and her bridal bouquet.

But the cake-cutting ceremony was the topper. When the it hit the floor, all the guests let out an audible gasp, followed by an uncomfortable silence as they waited to see how the couple would react. But Ken and Amanda kept it together. They even giggled when they saw the images on Tom’s camera.

As a wedding photographer, Tom has seen couples get stressed over each and every detail. He was happily surprised when Ken and Amanda were so gracious about the fallen cake. “They never forgot why they were there,” Tom says. Their joy and love for each other overcame everything that had worked against them on the day!  To add, when I left, turning back to see Amanda still smiling from ear to ear, I couldn’t help but be moved. What a lady! Then to top it off, Ken even took the time to grab me as I was leaving to thank me for being a part of their day – an absolute gentleman!”
