Awkward Pose of the Week: The Lean

Warning: this fan favorite isn’t for the conservative family. This is a pose for the clan with sass, one that wants to convey, “Heads up!” “Coming at ya!, “In your face!” “Take a closer look,” and of course, “You rang?” Combine with two arm-fold-book-ends and you’ve got yourselves an album scorcher.

as awkward as this is…the guy on the far left is super cute.
they are trying to look thin!! guys!! lol Lean in to the camera and make sure there is “air space” between yout elbow and your waist!

This isn’t a lean. The camera man is over head…
No really, look at the guy on the left, he’s not leaning. If they were leaning over he’d be bent at the hips, otherwise they’d be doing that weird Michael Jackson move where he just like…leans forward at a crazy angle and defies gravity. Just sayin.

yeah, this is not awkward. maybe slightly cheesy, but they’re well-dressed and look normal. the daughter is even kind of cute. that family doesn’t deserve to be on this site! pretty mean if you ask me…
i don’t think they are leaning…I think the camera persone is on a ladder looking down on them.
I actually don’t think this is a leaning pose…sorry to burst people’s bubbles, but it looks like the picture was taken by the photographer from slightly above the family, which is why they’re looking up.

I think you’re right! After you said that – I looked again – and it really looks like the photographer is on a chair or something above them.

ohmygosh!! i just saw this picture in mr. wegners office today!!
Other than the title and a prejudiced (due to the title) glance, why would anyone think that these people are leaning? Aerial shots from ladders are best used for “large” groups. This as with many of the commercially done portraits some were just bad execution or improperly constructed poses that even as an amateur I would never let the subjects see let alone choose, unless they recognize them for what they are.
With that said they do still tickle the funny-bone………
This could actually be an okay photo if the cameraman was actually overhead and they were not just leaning over.
