This brings back fond memories of the sweaters my Nana used to knit all us grandkids! I thought I looked pretty good in them back then… but looking at this… there IS too much of a good thing.
‘Scuse me, but if those are Dahle sweaters, which I am guessing they are, this picture is a display of wealth. If you had a gift receipt for your particular sweater, you could get a fabulous and unnecessarily posh couple of nights out for the return, or a down payment on a very used car. The pattern does not lend itself to this huge a portrait, of course, because it’s a little stark and overwhelming an effect, but this was a huge effort on somebody’s part to do something classy and expensive.
I knit too and I made 2 Dale of Norway sweaters and it took me 3 years to make them. I cost me over $300 in yarn to make the 2 (back in 94) and now I live in Texas and can’t even wear the damn things
Does anyone remember that Spirograph toy thing from when they were a kid? That’s what this reminds me of. Like someone mastered Spirograph in yarn form.
Ok, well I have to admit that I would probably try to put a combination like this for our family pictures. I love sweaters, and I wear them all the time. My family just know that if they can’t think of anything to get me for Christmas, a new sweater will do just fine. I think they look great! Very nice looking family as well!
Laugh all you want. . . if those are handknit, that is a true labor of love. They are just gorgeous, even if the “Hey, I match my whole family!” isn’t such a wonderful idea. If they’re handdone, that is a remarkable accomplishment and I bow to the knitters skill and dedication. Amazing.

Its Dale of Norway, not dahl sweaters. They can cost as much as $700 but some are about $100. hmm, thats how many compound bows?
