I love the ‘lil’ bastard’ expression on the best man’s face.
My uncle did this to my dad at my parents wedding. Apparently the aisle was made of some type of paper material and my dad kind of stuck to it the whole time he was walking down the aisle. I have no doubts my uncles almost peed their pants.
I’ve seen a picture like this in the Newspaper years ago… it’s still funny tho!!
This happened to my mom and dad except that the men added “me” to help, so his shoes read “help me” and they were married catholic so most didn’t think it very funny!

Holy s***…this photo is actually my brother’s in-laws. They have the original framed at their house…the photographer ended up selling the picture to a stock photo company. It ended up being on a greeting card, which is probably where AFP got it.
I can confirm it was the best man who wrote the “HELP” on the shoes.

If you really have to drag out the Bible it says for a woman to cover her head in church.
My cousin did this to his brother at his wedding. Instead of help it said “help me”. I remember, (I was 10 at the time), watching him paint it on with white car model paint the night before the wedding. And this will only work in a Catholic wedding, they are the only ones I’ve been to that have the participants kneel. It was hilarious.
nope I was married in a Baptist ceremony and we knelt for a prayer and communion. At the time I would have been PISSED if anyone had done that to my groom’s shoes.
I am since divorced and remarried (in Vegas) and would have LMAO if that had happened. So much more is awkward in this shot. THe best man- the hat…etc
My mother was in a wedding in the early 70′s and she had the exact same hat only in that really weird peach color you only find on the walls of abandoned mental hospitals.

My dad was really mad when we did this to my brother at his wedding….. It is a fun memory.
Why do I have the strangest feeling that the best man( I assume the man whos standing up next to the groom) did this?
I had to look twice at this photo because my dad did the same thing to his brother’s shoes at his wedding, which was during the same period, judging by the picture. I think it’s hilarious!
I had to do the same thing! My parents were married during this time period and my dad’s shoes definitely said “help” on one and “me” on the other.
His shoes were against the marriage from the beginning.

My sister was a bridesmaid in a wedding in the early 70′s and someone wrote ‘Help Me’ on the bottoms of the grooms shoes. It still cracks me up when I think about it. Yes–it happens.
In his defense, maybe he rented the shoes with the tux and the groom before him put HELP on the shoes.

I think it all depends on the personalities of the people. Something like this would have offended my husband so much because he would consider it trashy. For other people it’s all in good fun. Kind of like the cake smashing trend I guess.

@Amice: Yep, I thought the same thing. I figured Mr. Best Man wrote it there while the groom left his shoes unattended. He is cracking up like he got away with something.

Someone did this to my former brother-in-law at my sister’s wedding. Everyone thought it was funny. I guess it depends on the humor of the people involved.

While this is funny, I am not sure I understand how someone could do something like this in the actual cermony. Tomfoolery at the reception is one thing, but the ceremony? Wow. I can think of three women in my life who would kill me for pulling a stunt like this.

How bout as irony?
As a woman who did not did not did NOT want to have a big wedding (Can you say courthouse?) and who got one anyway. Tomfoolery would have been welcome. In fact – it sorta was – one of my wedding pictures is of me, holding up the long skirt of my dress and showing off just how I went down the isle….. barefoot. My husband laughed, my family laughed, and my feet were KILLING me.
I guess it depends on the wedding you’re at and the people who attend. I find this funny.
Btw in case you were wondering how my marriage is since I hated having the ceremony… 7 years and still acting like newly weds. It’s a pretty good start I think.
It’s normally the groomsmen who do this as a prank right before the wedding.

Look at what is written on the heels of the groom’s shoes. It’s nothing to do with religion.
It looks like a Catholic wedding and the couple are about to receive Communion, hence the kneeling.
